Saying Goodbye to the elementary.
GLM has changed all of us. Whether you're in second grade or fifth grade, the Montessori experience has left an imprint on all our lives. We have had many teachers and students come and go, and even when Redwood is gone, this place will always be with us. The teachers taught us to be independent and that skill will definitely help us later in our lives. Some of us started in the Pandemic and some of us came here back in 2018, but I know that none of us would trade that experience, no matter how long it was, for anything. No matter what we will do, who we will be, or where we will go we will always remember the friends that we made here.
The Redwood classroom and the GLM community will forever be in our hearts.
From Mackenzie and the Redwood class
The Redwood Elementary classroom was founded back in 2016. The teachers, families, and students created more than just a classroom but a community that has felt like family for most. This community has been committed to the development of children ages 6-12. So many memories and moments spent together. It’s been a special place that we have been lucky to experience.

Last week the elementary class made their way to Mendocino for a four day adventure. It was filled with hikes, studying ecosystems, team building activities, and so much more. 🌲

After reading Creepy Carrots by Aaron Reynolds, the older Juniper and Pear children collaborated to make their own creepy carrots. They had a lot of fun creating art and acting out the story. 🥕👻

On Muwekma Ohlone tribal land students spent a night camping! They pitched their own tents, planned and cooked all meals! Students hiked, took care of one another and most importantly had some fun!

It was a good day for a nature walk. First signs of fall, brush rabbits, identifying trees, and western fence lizards. 🍂🐰🦎

Nature walks are our favorite! Redwood students pick a writing prompt to make observations about the natural world around them in their nature journals! Happy Friday!

The first week back in elementary has been filled with the great stories, team building activities, lessons, art, and of course some laughter! We took the time to learn about Cesar Chavez’s 340 mile pilgrimage from Delano to Sacramento that the UFW just completed yesterday for the third time in history!
