Celebrating another incredible HCC summer in Chicago. 💙

Our 2026 Chicago Closing Celebration brought interns, preceptors, partners, and staff together to reflect on a summer filled with meaningful work, mentorship, professional growth, and connection.

In addition to the hands-on experience our interns gained at their individual host organizations, our Chicago cohort had the opportunity to participate in special site visits with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Prime Care, and Cook County.

These experiences gave interns an opportunity to step inside different health organizations, learn directly from professionals and leaders, explore a range of career paths, and gain a broader understanding of how organizations across Chicago are working to improve health in their communities.

That kind of exposure is an important part of the HCC experience: helping students not only succeed in the internship they have today, but also see the many possibilities available to them as they build their careers.

To our Chicago interns: congratulations on everything you accomplished this summer. 🎉 The experience may have lasted ten weeks, but the relationships, lessons, exposure, and opportunities created along the way will carry forward far beyond the internship.

And to our preceptors, host organizations, site visit partners, and supporters: thank you for investing in emerging leaders and helping strengthen Chicago’s future health workforce.

One summer. New skills. New perspectives. Bigger possibilities. ✨

Celebrating a summer of growth, connection, and local impact in California’s Central Valley. 💙

Our 2026 HCC Central Valley Closing Celebration brought interns, preceptors, partners, and staff together to reflect on the experiences, relationships, and meaningful work that shaped the summer.

Throughout their internships, our Central Valley students gained hands-on experience, learned from dedicated health leaders, contributed to organizations serving local communities, and continued building the skills and confidence they’ll carry into the next chapter of their journeys.

To our interns: congratulations on everything you accomplished this summer. 🎉 The internship may be ending, but the connections you built and the impact of this experience will continue well beyond these ten weeks.

And to our preceptors, host organizations, partners, and supporters: thank you for investing in emerging leaders and helping strengthen the future health workforce in the Central Valley.

One summer. Lasting connections. And an HCC journey that continues.

This summer marked an exciting milestone for Health Career Connection: the launch of our very first Denver cohort. 💙

At our 2026 Denver Closing Celebration, we had the opportunity to bring together interns, preceptors, partners, and members of the local community to reflect on a summer of learning, connection, and impact.

Our inaugural Denver interns spent the summer gaining hands-on experience, contributing to organizations across the region, building relationships with health leaders, and taking important steps toward their own futures in health.

We are especially grateful to GreenLight Fund Denver for believing in HCC’s model and helping make our expansion into Denver possible. Their partnership has helped open the door for a new generation of local health leaders and laid the foundation for what we hope will be many more HCC summers in the region.

To our first Denver cohort: congratulations. 🎉 You will always be part of a very special chapter in HCC’s story.

And to our preceptors, host organizations, partners, and supporters: thank you for welcoming HCC to Denver and investing in the future of the local health workforce.

⭐ ALUMNI PRECEPTOR SPOTLIGHT: Robert Nocon, PhD

From HCC intern to mentor, preceptor, and champion for the next generation of health leaders, Dr. Robert Nocon’s HCC journey is a powerful example of what it means to give back.

Dr. Nocon began his HCC journey as a Southern California intern in 2002. Today, as an Assistant Professor at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine, he has spent years opening doors for HCC interns, personally mentoring and supporting students while also encouraging colleagues and departments across the School of Medicine to host HCC interns of their own.

The impact is remarkable.

Former interns connected to Dr. Nocon and the KPSOM/HCC experience have gone on to medical and graduate school, residency programs, health policy roles, community health organizations, and careers throughout the health professions. He has also hired former HCC interns, continued mentoring them beyond the summer, and helped create a growing network of HCC alumni supporting one another.

This summer, Dr. Nocon and the KPSOM team once again welcomed HCC’s Southern California interns for an immersive site visit featuring faculty and staff panels, presentations, the anatomy laboratory, training spaces, and opportunities to learn directly from health professionals.

We are proud to celebrate Dr. Nocon as an HCC Alum Giving Back and grateful for more than two decades of connection, mentorship, and commitment to those coming behind him.

💙 Thank you, Dr. Nocon, for continuing to lead the next generation.

We’re proud to launch our Alumni Preceptor Spotlight, celebrating HCC alumni who are giving back by mentoring this summer’s interns!

Our first spotlight features Danielle Le Hals, MPH, a 2005 New England HCC alumna who now serves as Vice President of Anesthesiology at Mass General Brigham.

Danielle’s journey from HCC intern to accomplished health leader and preceptor reflects the lasting power of mentorship. By sharing her experience and investing in an emerging leader, she is helping the next generation build confidence, strengthen their skills, and discover what is possible.

Thank you, Danielle, for continuing the HCC tradition of reaching back while moving forward!

Another incredible HCC orientation is in the books! 🎉

Our North Carolina interns recently came together to connect with their peers, meet HCC staff and mentors, and begin building the relationships that will support them throughout the summer and beyond.

One of the most valuable parts of the HCC experience is joining a community of aspiring health leaders who are passionate about making a difference. We are excited to watch this cohort learn, grow, and contribute to healthier communities across North Carolina and beyond.

Welcome to HCC, we’re glad you’re here! 💙
