With opportunities across our nationwide teams, you can explore a variety of focus areas, build new skills, and support our mission to help students become confident readers.

AmeriCorps VISTAs serve full-time for 12 months and receive a living stipend and health benefits. Whether you’re passionate about community engagement, fundraising, communications, or something in between, there’s an opportunity to grow your skills while making a difference.

We know there is a literacy crisis in our country. At Reading Partners, we’ve spent more than 25 years in this field, and what brings us hope is that we know what works. The tactics to improve student literacy journeys and help them become strong readers are within reach.

A new The New York Times article asked 37 education researchers to weigh 30 ideas for improving U.S. schools. “Two approaches stood out: small-group tutoring for students who need additional support, and evidence-based reading instruction grounded in the Science of Reading.”

At Reading Partners, we proudly put both into practice.

Our direct tutoring program offers 1:1 and small-group tutoring to provide targeted literacy support aligned with school MTSS frameworks. In a 2:1 small-group tutoring session, two students learn alongside one another with a trained tutor. This approach combines individualized instruction with peer learning: students think aloud, explain their ideas, compare strategies, and sometimes even experience new ways of learning that click.

Reading Partners has a sturdy foundation: our curriculum is explicit, systematic, and rooted in the science of reading. At all levels of the curriculum, there is a progression through the lesson for different skills, practice activities, reading strategies, and reading opportunities.

The literacy experience improves when solutions are implemented with the individual student’s reading journey in mind: identifying the right curriculum with the right support at the right time.

Service looks like this. It's how we spent National Day of Service on 9/11 earlier this month, and we carry that service with us every day wherever Reading Partners shows up. 💙

This year marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, and our AmeriCorps Volunteers honored the day by going straight into the community to serve, connect, and make a difference.
