Our 8th Annual Move-A-Thon was a joyful celebration of movement, wellness, and active play!

Children enjoyed an afternoon of dancing, music, capoeira with Get Empowered, football drills and an obstacle course with Amazing Athletes, and soccer fun with Oakland Roots Sports Club. Healthy snacks from Trader Joe's kept our little athletes fueled throughout the day!

On May 15, we celebrated the completion of our Green Oasis Schoolyard with a joyful ribbon-cutting ceremony surrounded by children, families, community partners, elected officials, and friends who helped bring this vision to life. 💚

This $1.4 million climate-resilient outdoor learning space is more than a transformed schoolyard — it is a place where children in West Oakland will explore, learn, play, and thrive for generations to come.

We are deeply grateful to our incredible partners and supporters, including CAL FIRE, Bernard E. & Alba Witkin Charitable Foundation, Fremont Bank, Banks Family Foundation, Port of Oakland, Sisters of the Holy Family, West Davis & Bergard Foundation, City National Bank, and all 96 donors and partners who helped make the Green Oasis possible.

For 115 years, Saint Vincent’s Day Home has supported Oakland children and families. This is what the next chapter looks like. 🌿

Supporting the people who support our children 💛

Today, May 27, $1 from every iced coffee and cold brew purchased at Dunkin’ will support the Dunkin' Joy In Childhood Foundation and help bring joy to children battling hunger or illness.

At Saint Vincent’s Day Home, we’ve experienced that generosity firsthand. Thanks to the Foundation’s incredible support of our toddler sensory garden, children in our community have more opportunities to explore, learn, play, and thrive in joyful outdoor spaces.

First look at the water feature 💧✨

Our students recently got their very first chance to explore and play in the new interactive water feature, part of our Green Oasis playground renovation 🌿 From pouring water and floating boats to discovering tiny creatures and engaging in sensory play, the space was filled with curiosity, laughter, and joyful learning.

These hands-on experiences encourage creativity, collaboration, exploration, and connection with nature — all at the heart of the Green Oasis vision for our children.

This event not only promises a day full of golf, contests, and prizes, but it also plays a critical role in supporting early childhood education and family services for over 200 children in West Oakland. In honor of Autism Awareness Month, our play yard was filled with sensory stations—from shaving cream and water play to beads and hands-on bins—encouraging exploration and self-expression 💙

Our staff, children, and teachers also wore blue in support of autism awareness and the importance of inclusive, nurturing environments for every child.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Dunkin' Joy In Childhood Foundation for their continued support of our Toddler Sensory Garden 🌱

This $20,000 grant represents the second half of their generous commitment—bringing their total investment to $40,000 in support of creating a joyful, engaging outdoor space for our youngest learners.

Because of partnerships like this, our children have the opportunity to explore, play, and grow in a nurturing, sensory-rich environment every day. 💛
