In November 2011 the Oakland Unified School District will once again honor it’s employees at the District Employee Recognition Ceremony. The ceremony is a celebration of the hard work and dedication displayed by Oakland Teachers, Principals, Administrators, School Site Staff, and Central Office Staff.
The Honoring Our Own celebration is an opportunity for OUSD’s most outstanding employees to be honored --- those who produce results, inspire others, stand as models for the Oakland community and work in service of Oakland’s children.
At this ceremony, Oakland will be honoring a former Patten University graduate, Kareem Weaver (2002). He has taught for 13 years before becoming the principal at Lazear Elementary School in 2011. Principal Weaver will be receiving the Education Leadership Award for Region 2 - Elementary schools. The Patten Education Division would like to congratulate Principal Weaver on his outstanding leadership and accomplishments in elementary education and recognition of this honor.
Classes are now starting for the Fall 2012 semester. If you are looking to switch careers or looking to make a difference in a students life, now is the time to start.
