Think College Now A small 'college-prep' public elementary school in the Fruitvale District of Oakland.

Our vision at Think College Now is that all students will have the tools to choose their life’s path and desired occupation with an equitable opportunity to attend college and pursue their dreams. We believe that access to college is the key to bringing about educational equity for our children. We work relentlessly to help our students develop the habits to make the dramatic student achievement gains required for college entrance. Students in Ms. Kline and Ms. Yaqui’s classes spent the first two months of school learning about access to education around the world! These students read fiction and nonfiction texts, engaged in discussions, learned new vocabulary, and developed their writing skills. Today, they celebrated with publishing parties to honor their hard work and give compliments to one another. Cheers to young authors!

¡Los estudiantes de las clases de Ms. Kline y Ms. Yaqui pasaron los primeros dos meses aprendiendo sobre el acceso a la educación en todo el mundo! Estos estudiantes leen textos de ficción y no ficción, participan en discusiones, aprendieron nuevo vocabulario y desarrollaron sus habilidades de escritura. Hoy, celebraron con fiestas editoriales para honrar su arduo trabajo y felicitarse unos a otros. ¡Salud a los jóvenes autores!

We got a fantastic performance from Ms. Pilar’s first graders at the assembly this morning! These students showed so much confidence and use perseverance and collaboration (two skills they’ve been practicing in class!) to really shine!

Help us spread the word! In the month of October, the TCN Attendance Team will have some Glad You’re Here Days. On these surprise days, kids who are here on time will earn a prize or treat. We won’t tell you when it’s going to happen, so make sure to arrive on time so you have a chance to participate AND so that you can make the most of your learning!

On Friday, we got a wonderful performance from Mr. Polastri’s third grade students. They remind us to have a growth mindset. When something is difficult, you should remember that you can practice in order to improve. Don’t give up! You can do it!

Ms. Hatschek is one of Oakland’s Teachers of the Year!! She got to throw out the first pitch at Friday’s Oakland Ballers game and she CRUSHED IT!! Looks like she could have had a career baseball but we are SO happy she chose teaching instead! We love you, Ms. Hatschek!!!
