The Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools Program is a countywide program that promotes, encourages and teaches safe walking, bicycling, carpooling, and the use of transit to travel to school. Safe Routes to Schools Alameda County seeks to reduce pollution and improve the health of our communities by increasing the safety and numbers of children and families walking, bicycling, and actively traveling to school.

We went big for Bike to School Day! Last Thursday, almost 100 school communities across Alameda County –from Chabot Elementary to Lincoln High – took to the streets on bike, foot, skateboard, and other forms of active transportation. Now that’s what we call pedal power!
