The Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools Program is a countywide program that promotes, encourages and teaches safe walking, bicycling, carpooling, and the use of transit to travel to school. We went big for Bike to School Day! Last Thursday, almost 100 school communities across Alameda County –from Chabot Elementary to Lincoln High – took to the streets on bike, foot, skateboard, and other forms of active transportation. Now that’s what we call pedal power!

And the Platinum Sneaker goes to… Christensen Middle School in Livermore! Yesterday, the Alameda County Transportation Commission honored Principal Sharmann and Teacher Ngo’s 7th grade classroom for outstanding participation in the Golden Sneaker Contest.
Christensen MS has been a part of the Safe Routes to Schools Program since 2016, proving that persistence pays off!

Safe Kids Day is coming to Oakland! This event is free and open to the public with activities, safety education, and family fun. Free bike helmets will be given while supplies last. 🚲
Also, registration is now open for Alameda County kids to receive a free booster seat! 🎉
