✨ Throwing it back to the day we graduated from nursing school✨ Memories……..
Time really does fly. It feels just like yesterday we were nervously walking across the stage, filled with excitement and gratitude for everything that led us to this moment. From late-night study sessions to the endless hours of clinicals, every challenge shaped us into the nurses we are today. 💉
Nursing school was a journey full of tears, laughter, growth, and so much learning. It wasn’t easy, but every step was worth it. We are beyond grateful for the incredible mentors, classmates, and experiences that made it all possible. 👩🏽⚕️👩🏽⚕️

💡 Why is Pitocin used in Labor & Delivery? 💡
Pitocin is a synthetic version of oxytocin, the hormone that naturally helps with contractions during labor. It’s used in:
1️⃣ Inducing Labor - Helps start labor if it’s medically necessary. 2️⃣ Augmenting Labor - Makes contractions stronger if labor is slow. 3️⃣ Preventing Postpartum Bleeding - Helps the uterus contract after delivery.
Pitocin is carefully monitored during delivery to ensure the safety of both mom and baby.🤱💙🩷

lil throwback to our cohort grad party 🎉

3 years later and I can officially say I graduated! Getting in this field as a black woman was not easy. I felt every obstacle in place to make sure I didn’t succeed. I felt every emotion the bad more than the good but my God is a way maker! Becoming an advanced practice nurse was one of the most challenging things I’ve done in my life thus far but I learned so much about myself along the way.
I learned:
💠 “Keep shaking the table” don’t let the “norm” of healthcare or the system stop you from speaking up. Things won’t change unless you speak up for yourself & others.
💠 Being an advocate means having the uncomfortable conversations.
💠 Do not let impostor syndrome stop you from finishing the goal. You are there for a reason, you earned your spot!
💠 Talk to people about what you’re going through whether it’s God, family, friends or a therapist. More people want to see you win than you think.
Thanking God for the people he’s placed in my life to help me stand even stronger. God thank you for blessing me with loving/supportive parents & my family who were there for me every step of the way. Thankful for my friends who were understanding, encouraging and supportive with making sure I reach my end goal. I am blessed and prepared to get into this field and now Oakland is about to get one of the best Nurse Practitioners!
I did it Granny Shirley and Grandma Gracie! Special s/o to my great grandparents Edgar and Anita Dennis the reason for it all 🙏🏾
“But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me—and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace.” - 1 Corinthians 15:10.
oral exam✔️I just finished my oral exam (1-hour comprehensive exam) for my NP program….& passed! One of the last parts of my nursing education before graduation. Goodluck/congrats to the rest of my cohort 🎉 we did it & in a pandemic at that…we deserve to celebrate!
t-minus 20 days till that degree 🎓!
