Enrolling our new students onto the Street Scholars Program at Merritt College with Professor Biancca Parazzo and Street Scholars staff Rueben and Cesar .

Our guys met their Open Gate mentor Taqwaa Abdul El-Malik, who after 33 years of incarceration , is moving mountains .

And we have our first Open Gate service dog, the very clever and well- trained Majesty !

Now onto our Open Gate Lunch at Laney , enrolling students onto the Restoring our Communties (ROC) Program .

So honored to be at the RISE orientation at Chabot College to welcome students for the Spring 2025 semester !

Open Gate founded RISE in 2016 and the program has gone from strength to strength with the support of the excellent Chabot leadership.

Many thanks to Chabot President Dr. Jamal Cooks , who has been a strong supporter of RISE from Day 1 , to VP Michael Poindexter for making our students so welcome and to RISE backbone , Sensei Vic .

Open Gate - from Incarceration to Graduation!

Here we are , so many of us , still doing what we’re doing , working with our students while they’re incarcerated then when they’re released .

Our students are college and university graduates, commercial truck drivers , welders , chefs , dads, counselors , mentors , uncles and giving back every day .

We are also Americans and we will not be silent . We are still here . It’s our flag too. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
