POC Sustainable Housing Network We support BIPOC interested in creating ecologically & culturally regenerative housing communities

The People of Color Sustainable Housing Network (POCSHN, pronounced 'po-shun') is committed to creating an entire ecosystem of POC-centered co-housing, cooperative housing, and intentional communities that are ecologically, emotionally, spiritually and culturally regenerative spaces. By supporting the creation of indigenous, low-income and people of color-led housing and land projects that focus on collective land ownership & stewardship, resident-controlled housing, and cooperative economic models, the People of Color Sustainable Housing Network hopes to foster long-term replicable strategies and tactics for housing, food and land-use movements.

Hey POCSHN fam! We’re excited to invite you to Collectiving—a 4-week Cooperative Living Leadership program for BIPOC folx in the East Bay--specifically: Oakland, Berkeley & Richmond. Let’s explore cooperative living skills rooted in Black and Indigenous ancestral traditions together!

This program features practitioners from Stronghold, Molly McGee, and Lance McGee, we’ll share somatic and embodied tools, restorative justice, and collective decision-making for your journey.

For: BIPOC who are interested in collectively living and working together.
When: Wednesdays, 6:00–8:30pm, starting Sept. 30th.
Where: Sustainable Economies Law Center
Dinner and materials will be provided.

Knowledge and tools you’ll acquire: Crafting and refining a mission/vision, develop skills for conflict navigation, and connect with community!

Join POCSHN as we re-join our friends at NEXT Friday, June 5th from 11am - 3pm! We will be gathering at their new garden where we’ll help move soil to their newly installed beds and Farmer Mo will teach us how to install below and above ground irrigation! (Refreshments will be provided)

In this time of poly-crisis, it is more critical than ever that we support our local, food producers and lend a helping hand where we can.

Since 2015, POCSHN has been organizing, educating, and building pathways for BIPOC communities to reclaim land and housing. We want this homecoming to be a celebration of all the work (seen and unseen) that POCSHN has done over the last decade.

As the big day approaches, we are taking some time to give a huge shout out and thank you to our event sponsors. Next up is the ! We're a little over a week away from our POCSHN Homecoming: 10-Year Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, Dec 6th from 2 - 5pm PST in Downtown Oakland (RSVP for address)!

Since 2015, POCSHN has been organizing, educating, and building pathways for BIPOC communities to reclaim land and housing. From organizing alongside tenants to purchase their building (Liberated 23rd Ave), to working with the Sustainable Economies Law Center (SELC) to develop a rad new way for local communities to co-operatively hold housing (shout out East Bay Permanent Real Estate Cooperative ) and much more – we want this homecoming to be a celebration of all the work (seen and unseen) that POCSHN has done over the last decade.
