When children learn to read independently, they can begin to feel more confident in their ability to learn, explore, and take on new challenges.

One page at a time, reading can help a child think:

Learning doesn't happen in a vacuum.

Children bring their identities, cultures, experiences, questions, and voices with them into every classroom.

That's why 3Ls believes literacy instruction should be both effective and culturally relevant.

Our approach centers Black and Brown students and families rather than asking them to leave their experiences at the door.

We believe students should feel seen, valued, and supported while developing the literacy skills they need to thrive.

Because belonging and learning belong together.

Every child deserves the opportunity to become a confident reader, and every caring educator has the power to help make that happen.

3Ls The Academy is looking for passionate Literacy Tutors to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year.

If you're committed to educational equity, believe in the power of literacy, and want to make a lasting impact in the lives of Black and Brown children, we'd love to meet you.

As a Literacy Tutor, you'll provide small-group instruction, build meaningful relationships with students and families, receive ongoing professional development, and become part of a community working to change literacy outcomes, one neighborhood at a time.

Position Highlights:
• Part-time (Monday–Thursday)
• Oakland, CA
• $18–$20/hour
• Paid training and professional development
• School Year: August–May
