Long before many Black Americans had legal access to education, stories, songs, oral histories, and community traditions carried knowledge across generations.
Storytelling preserved culture, history, resistance, and identity when systems tried to erase them.
Black literature didn’t begin in textbooks. It began in voices, memory, and community. ✊🏾
That legacy lives on every time a child sees themselves reflected in a story.
