In a couple of weeks we are hosting a session where are members can present their brands, logos, colors, etc., to get supportive feedback.

So many healers, mostly women, do not see themselves as business people. It makes sense, most women were not raised with business or finance education in their home.

It’s never too late.

Building a successful small business (products or practice) should be with the support of a community.
Community holds you accountable and supports your vision and dreams.

This month we dove into the world of finance for small business, and discussed investors and startups. There are spreadsheets that I have built for our Folk members that lays out all of the projections for each business you may encounter (services, products, brick & mortar, retreats, digital products, and personal finance). I will make them available to the public soon!

My Clinical Herbal Medicine students graduated this weekend, 90% of them have been in the program for 3 years. All of those years were online as we transitioned from in-person at the start of COVID.

I could not be more proud of everything they accomplished, and proud of my team for building one of the best online herbal medicine schools, in my humble opinion. 😉 I am so lucky to have teachers from around the globe sharing their wisdom with our students, who are often already professionals in the helping field.

We have doctors, nurses, lawyers, psychotherapists, tech managers, educated adult learners that want to include herbal medicine in their life and start transitioning their careers to a more purposeful or meaningful one.

And I’m here for it.

The most fulfilling job I have is to teach these students about business and building their herbal career. I am blown away by the business plans these clinical students compete for their final projects. I have students already speaking to investors, some who are already launching their clinical practice, and others who are building up their retreat or event business. I am honored to coach them in a field I know and love.

We just launched our Advanced Clinical Mentorship program which will enable graduates of herbal medicine schools to get guidance in their cases and have a speciality teacher come in to guide them in their more complicated cases (integrative oncology treatments, auto immunity, reading labs, current research, pain management). I am really excited about this!

I am gushing because I’m proud, but more importantly because I am getting the most profound feedback on our students experience,

In reality, my students changed my life. They all increased my ability to empathize, create meaning, and push me to learn more about everything from Indigenous wisdom and modern clinical research.

Our first Citizen Research Trial is coming. Advancing herbal medicine research is one of our dreams - and it’s coming true through the partnership with .health and 🙏🏻🌸♥️

Our third year Clinical Herbalist students are participating in a two week trial that will use Skullcap Glycerite for mood regulation next month.

As herbalists we use Skullcap for anxiety safely all the time, but there is still more empirical data to be gathered. It seems so simple, but so profound that we can be part of moving that needle and provide more resources for the broader community to understand the efficaciousness of herbal medicine.

Skullcap is a perennial in the mint family traditionally used for stress, nervousness, insomnia, and headaches. While western herbalists remain convinced that skullcap is an effective sedative, antispasmodic, and nervine tonic, very little scientific research has been done. We’re changing that.

We are stoked to be on this journey.
