**STUDIO UPDATE!**

After years of dreaming and manifesting, Dominique Tutwiler will begin teaching beginner woodworking classes at Waveform this Fall! Dominique and I have been hard at work building out Waveform’s new home in West Berkeley - we have room for pottery classes, craft workshops, AND a mini wood shop in the back.

Dominique is a designer and woodworker with a background in illustration. Their first job out of college was at a hardware store where they started building things, learning about power tools and general construction. They founded their custom furniture company, Oaksmith Furniture, in 2017 with a mission to make handcrafted, custom furniture accessible for all.

As a teacher, Dominique aims to create an accessible and welcoming environment for those curious about woodworking. Traditional woodworking spaces can be intimidating for beginners, and they want to change that. Their beginner woodworking classes will focus on building confidence with power tools, creating simple, elegant objects for the home and connecting community.

Check out Waveform’s lineup this summer! Summers are slow in the studio, and we are in transition right now moving the space to West Berkeley. Yay it’s pride month! It’s an amazing month in the Bay, but it can also be a little overwhelming. For those of us in search of low stim hangs - for those of us navigating transition, burnout or grief, Waveform has you covered. Enjoy a low key hang in the courtyard - stop by, squish clay, enjoy an n/a beverage and a fire playlist. I did three woodburning workshops for Medical Assistants at Kaiser Permanente this month. My favorite part about working with folks in healthcare? They are real, they are funny, they are focused. Truly so grateful that nurses, medical assistants and other healthcare professionals seem to be drawn to the studio. Waveform is officially on the move! The studio will be operating as usual throughout June in North Oakland while we build out a clay classroom, craft oasis and wood shop in a new space in West Berkeley. If I'm slow to respond, here's why :)

The new space will have plenty of room for crafting, and I'm excited to be working with my partner to build out a WOOD SHOP that will offer beginning woodworking classes! The new space will continue to prioritize beginners, with an emphasis on accessible offerings and having fun :)
