Last Mushroom Foraging Classes of the Season

Discover the culinary delight of spring mountain mushrooms like morels, Butter Boletes and Spring Kings with Mikhael in the breathtaking landscapes surrounding Mt. Shasta. This immersive class offers a rare opportunity to connect with nature and learn the art of wild mushroom identification in one of California's most pristine environments. While focusing on boletes, we will also learn other montane mushrooms, and the trees the various fungi are associated with.

June 6, 7, 20, 21 10am-3pm

our next Mushroom classes won't be until the fall rains come

Learn how to identify, use, and sustainably harvest the bountiful seaweeds. Harvest up to 10 lbs of seaweed to take home and enjoy.

From ancient times to the present, seaweeds have been used by coastal people all over the world to nourish themselves and their gardens, as well as for health issues. The Sonoma coast is incredibly rich in seaweeds that can be used as food and medicine.

We will gather on the beach, review some common edible species, and head to where the sea meets shore to access and appreciate the abundant marine meadow growing on our coast.

The class also includes community-building activities and will conclude with a cooking demo featuring several varieties of seaweed. Led by Autumn Summers and Ricardo Romero Gianoli

when we say that spring mountain mushroom classes are hard to plan... this is one reason why! After weeks of successful foraging, today the ground is covered in snow in Mount Shasta. The good news is this could help extend the season! our next Mushroom classes in the area are June 5 and 6 if you would like to join Mikhael. 🍄
