People are complicated. That is not a flaw. It's simply true. Someone can be an expert at work and ignorant with money. They may be confident professionally but afraid to speak up in a romantic relationship. Another person can understand their childhood patterns inside and out yet still repeat them every week. We can know exactly what we need to do for our health and simply not do it. Human beings are remarkably capable of being loving, generous and supportive while also having terrible boundaries.
This is one reason broad labels aren't always particularly useful. Calling someone confident, unmotivated, resilient, successful, unhealthy, avoidant or disciplined may describe something about them, but it rarely describes the whole person. It also doesn't tell us why the same person can behave so differently depending on the situation.
The 6-5-10 Model™ gives us a wider lens. Instead of asking only, What's wrong here? we can look at where the issue is occurring, how the person is relating to it, what else may be connected and what resources could help.
Sometimes the presenting problem really is the problem. Sometimes it is simply where a larger pattern became visible.
