Results from the first two years of field studies conducted in Carrington and Oakes suggest that the yield gain conferred by fungicides targeting white mold in pinto and kidney beans can be increased by 32 to 64 percent by optimizing droplet size. The results closely parallel earlier research that showed that calibrating fungicide droplet size relative to canopy closure sharply improves white mold management in soybeans. Michael Wunsch relays the details in this week's Center Points.

This year, North Dakotans experienced mass livestock mortalities due to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, the late spring blizzard, freezing rain and flooding events, and from blue-green algae poisoning. Mary Keena was on the frontlines of composting efforts, coaching producers and their advisors on how to deal with uncharacteristic animal deaths.
