Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance-Roane State TECTA exists to provide professional development opportunities to those working in early childhood.

The TECTA Articulated Professional Development system was established in 1992 by TSU's Center of Excellence for Basic Skills, renamed Center of Excellence for Learning Sciences (COELS) in January 2007. Our vision is to provide professional development that nurtures the growth of individuals in a community of learners through an articulated statewide higher education system, resulting in the highes

t quality early childhood experiences for all of Tennessee'e children. The TECTA site housed at Roane State Community College provides early childhood training and tuition support to nine surrounding counties: Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Knox, Loudon, Morgan, Roane, and Scott.

TECTA Student Success Story: Danielle Thompson

Going back to school has been something I wanted to do for a long time but wasn't sure where to start. Without TECTA I would not have been able to go on to further my education by taking college courses for early childhood education. Working with children has always been a passion of mine and I am so thankful for this opportunity and all the TECTA specialists who have helped me along the way by being awarded my CDA credential.

"As an early childhood education student at ETSU working towards graduation while fully supporting myself, I was worried that I would not be able to provide financially, especially when moving into my year long residency. However, with the help of TECTA funding, this was not only made possible but was completely stress free. I was able to pay for my education and make sure my bills were taken care of as well, and I will always be grateful for that!"
