🌱 If you build it, they will come! 👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳

After our inaugural cooking experience in the new Little Leaves Kitchen Lab last week, our teachers wasted no time putting this amazing space to use! This week, there was cooking happening EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
And some days, multiple classes visited the space! 🥣

We are so excited to continue expanding our garden-to-table initiative, where students experience the entire journey of food from planting and caring for it, to harvesting, preparing, and tasting it (Not to mention all
the Math, Chemistry, and Literacy that happens while cooking)!
This week, we cooked with pumpkins grown right in our Preschool Garden. 🌱➡️🍽️

We are incredibly grateful to the Oak Ridge Public Schools Education Foundation and Oklo Inc. for making the Little Leaves Kitchen Lab possible. With sustainability at the heart of Oklo’s work, their support is a perfect fit for a space where our youngest learners are developing an understanding of where food comes from, how we can grow it ourselves, and what it means to care for the world around us. 🌎💚

We can’t wait to see what future learning comes from this space!

Yesterday was a BIG day at ORS Preschool! 🌱🍴

We had our inaugural cooking experience in our brand-new Cooking Lab, an exciting extension of our Preschool Garden initiative!

Thanks to the generosity of Oak Ridge Public School Education Foundation and Oklo, Inc., our students now have a space where they can take what they grow in the garden and bring it straight into the kitchen.
Yesterday, our little chefs used pumpkin and eggplant grown right here in the Preschool Garden to cook, taste, explore, and learn together!

One student summed it up perfectly:
❤️ “This is the best day at school ever!” ❤️

We are passionate about giving our students opportunities to grow, cook, taste, and explore fresh foods. From planting and harvesting to measuring, following recipes, and cooking together, these hands-on experiences build early math, science, literacy, teamwork, independence, and healthy-living skills; laying a foundation for learning, life, and future careers. 🌱

A HUGE thank you to ORPSEF and Oklo, Inc. for helping us bring this vision to life! 💚
