Progressive Martial Arts Academy has been offering martial arts and self defense training since 1989. We offer classes in a variety of martial arts styles for students of all ages, from children to adults. Our kids’ programs will teach your child true self-defense while instilling the characteristics of a true martial artist, such as discipline, focus, respect, and confidence. It's never too late to make a positive change. No matter how old you are, how much you weigh, or whether you're male or female, take a step in a new direction to build a better you. 🕷️ Starts TOMORROW! Still need a fall break adventure?

There’s still time to join PMA Spider Kids Jiu Jitsu Camp! David Corrigan is leading five mornings of Jiu Jitsu, action-packed drills, games, and Spider-Man stories.

We’ll turn gi grips into our “webs” and learn how technique and smart thinking help us control a stronger opponent. 💙💛

Watching students overcome their nerves to step out on the mat and showcase their skills in Kenpo was inspiring. There was noticeable growth from the students who competed last year too!

We opened the Summer Showdown weekend with an excellent display of grappling last night! It was a great kickoff and we couldn't be more proud of all of our competitors for showing their skill, determination, and camaraderie last night.

It’s time for the Summer Showdown!!!!

Let’s have a great weekend competing hard, supporting our training partners, and spending time with our PMA Family. We are so excited!

Reminders:

Grappling starts tonight at 5 PM. Attire: No-Gi
• Spats, shorts, or Gi pants
• Boys wearing spats must wear shorts over them
• Rashguard or T-shirt
• Belt is not required

Forms start Saturday at 9 AM. Uniform is full Gi.

Kickboxing starts on Saturday at 1 PM. No Gi attire with all required sparring gear. Required gear - full face headgear, mouthguard, shin-instep guards, groin protector (required for males, optional for females), boxing gloves (10 oz for juniors, 12 oz for young adults and women, 14 oz for men).

🌞 And don’t forget — the weekend continues Sunday with the STICK-NIC! Come hang out with the PMA family at AK Bissell Park from 12-4 for training, food, fun, and a great way to wrap up Summer Showdown weekend.

Whether you’re competing or just coming to support your teammates, come cheer loud and help us make this an awesome weekend for our PMA community! 💛💙

🥋Juniors Test August 2026

Our Juniors had a great test this month, showcasing tremendous growth in their forms, grappling, and kickboxing skills after working hard all summer for the Summer Showdown this weekend.

A special shoutout to Jonah Bolton who earned his Junior Black Belt after a difficult 5 hour test! Junior Black Belt represents years of dedication and hard work in an age where kids have grown increasingly more distracted and have difficulty sticking with it and overcoming hard challenges. Jonah has grown up so much on our mats and we are so proud of him!
