Today, all students received a special visit and presentation from JTHS Alum (Class of 1987) Derek Drymon. Mr. Drymon is one of the creative minds behind SpongeBob SquarePants, in addition to work on shows like Adventure Time and movies such as Kung Fu Panda. Mr. Drymon shared his creative journey with students, as well as stories from his time growing up in our community. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible. We are very grateful to Mr. Drymon for being so generous with his time and energy!

🦅 BACK TO THE NEST 🦅

At the start of Homecoming Week, we are excited to introduce a new tradition to our community. As part of our ALL IN for Jefferson initiative, we’re excited to strengthen the connection between JTHS and our alumni!

Each month, we’ll spotlight a JTHS alumnus or alumna, celebrate their accomplishments, and invite them back to connect with our students and share their journey as part of our new "Back to the Nest" program.

We’re honored to kick things off this week with the acclaimed animator, writer, and creative force behind SpongeBob SquarePants, Derek Drymon (Class of 1987) who will be returning to JTHS tomorrow to speak to our students about his creative joruney! We’ll also be creating a permanent “Back to the Nest” wall outside the main office to recognize our featured alumni.

We want our students to see the many different paths to success after graduation—and to know that being a Falcon never really ends.

Please join us in celebrating our Staff Member of the Month for September...

Mrs. Kasey Farris!

Mrs. Farris is an exceptional educator in our Social Studies department. She consistently goes above and beyond to create rigorous and engaging lessons for her students, and is always willing to assist her colleagues. If you stop by B6 on any given day, you are bound to see students tackling major issues from history, and having fun while doing it. Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Farris is an integral part of our Field Hockey program, where she continues to serve as a positive role model for her team.

According to her colleagues...

"Coach Farris is truly my backbone and right hand as a head coach. She is always there to check in, offer ideas, send reminders, and support me in any way I need. I’ve looked up to her since I was one of her players, and now I’m lucky enough to coach alongside her. She came back to coaching because she knew I needed her and wanted to be there for our girls, which says everything about the kind of person she is. I don’t know what I would do without Farris. She is my coach mom. LOVE HER!!!"

"Kasey is always willing to help her fellow teachers and is constantly trying to learn new things. Watching her go to PD and engage with the materials so she brings them back to her classroom is inspiring."

"She is a team player who helps anyone in need inside or outside her department. She has a positive and happy attitude each and every day she comes to work. She truly gives 100% not only in the classroom but in coaching field hockey as well."

Congratulations Mrs. Farris, and thank you for all you do for our school and community! The SMOM Falcon will make its home in B6 this month!

The journey to high school is just around the corner! Join us for an evening designed specifically for our 7th & 8th grade students and their families to discover all that Jefferson Township High School has to offer.
