💜 Friday Feature 💜 Part 1: 🩺🤖💙 Future Healthcare Professionals in Action!

More than 100 Huskies (and some staffulty!) had an incredible opportunity to explore the intersection of engineering, robotics, and medicine during the Health Career Robotics Collaborative at OPRF on Oct. 8 and 9!

Hosted in partnership with our Career and Technical Education (CTE) Division, Nursing program, and MED CLUB, the event gave students hands-on experience with da Vinci surgical robotics technology and the chance to learn from Intuitive engineers about the growing role of robotics in healthcare.

🔬 Students also explored surgical anatomy, robotic applications in the operating room, and exciting career pathways in medicine and bioengineering!

This special opportunity was made possible through the Health Career Collaborative (HCC) and the Intuitive Foundation, at no cost to our students.

👏 What an amazing way for our Huskies to explore the future of healthcare and the many career possibilities ahead!

💙 Activity Angle 💙 meets 🧡🌼 Hispanic Heritage Month Highlight 🌸💙
🥤🥤🥤 ASPIRA Amistad Latina Leadership Club has been helping us celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month all month long! This week, they captured some footage from a special club meeting held in one of our culinary classrooms. Members created several drinks from scratch:
🥒🍋‍🟩 Agua de pepino con limón (cucumber lime drink)
🇧🇷🍋 Limonada brasileira (Brazilian lemonade)
🌺💧 Agua de Jamaica (hibiscus water)
🥛🍚 Horchata (a classic Mexican drink made with rice and cinnamon)
🥇 After preparing and tasting their creations, members invited guest judge Mr.

Simone from Buildings & Grounds to sample them all. His verdict? Brazilian lemonade took the top spot this time! 🏆

🧡 This brief, practical session will help parents and caregivers recognize the difference between typical adolescent behavior and signs that a teen may be struggling with their mental health. You’ll also learn practical strategies for starting open, supportive conversations with your teen.

💙 The session takes place immediately before Junior Parent/Guardian College & Post-Secondary Planning Night, but all parents and guardians are welcome, regardless of their student’s grade level!

💚 Arts Watch 💚 Part 2
📣🎶🎺 Huskie Music Fest is here! You’re invited to check out the first OPRF music event of the 2026–2027 school year! This annual event, which benefits the Applause OPRF parent group, is going to look a little different this year. Instead of a rotation of our bands, choirs, and ensembles in the Field House, performances will take place in the West Gym and North and South Cafeterias over the course of two and a half music-filled hours!

Join us and support our performing arts!

👟👟👟 Girls and Boys Cross Country!
We checked in with Coaches Downey and Baldwin about this year’s Huskie cross country season, and both teams have plenty to celebrate!

🧡 Girls Cross Country
New head coach Downey leads a team of 65 runners who have already put together some impressive results:

🏆 Fenton Invite: 1st JV, 2nd F/S, 3rd varsity
🏆 DePaul Rams Invite: 1st varsity, 1st JV, 2nd F/S
🔥 Four Huskies have broken 19 minutes this season!

After a solid week of training, the girls are looking forward to a team favorite, the Naperville Twilight XC Invitational, where the races take place under the lights!

“My first year as head coach has been going very well,” Coach Downey said. “I have a great group of athletes who are dedicated to athletic and personal growth and show up for one another at meets and practices. I also have a great group of assistant coaches who truly care about our athletes.”

💙 Boys Cross Country
Veteran head coach Baldwin has 95 runners on this year’s team, with plenty of strong finishes of their own:

🏆 Fenton Invite: Champions in varsity, F/S, and JV
🏆 DePaul College Prep Ram Invite: Champions in varsity, F/S, and JV
👟 Palatine Invite: Freshmen finished 4th

The boys are also looking forward to racing under the lights at the Naperville Twilight Meet, followed by the Conference Meet on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Katherine Legge Memorial Park in Hinsdale.

🧡 Academic Division Day Highlight 🧡
🐺 202 Huskies headed downtown last Thursday for the annual Leadership Class City Chase! A total of 180 Leadership and Launch and Senior Instructional Leadership Corps (SILC) students were divided into themed teams and worked together to complete a scavenger hunt across downtown Chicago.

🦄 The Imaginative Unicorn group even made it onto the ABC7 morning broadcast and was invited in to check out the set!

⚡️ Kudos as well to the 22 chaperones and three faculty leaders, Mr. Singletary, Ms. Novotny, and Mr. Hoerster, for their steady guidance and leadership!

🧡🧘🏽‍♂️💙 Project 2 Update! Mind and Body Fitness teacher Ms. Kanwischer spent some time adding positive vibes to the new Yoga/Self-Defense classroom this weekend! It’s looking very peaceful!
