Moraine Area Career System

Moraine Area Career System The MACS Office works with Moraine Valley Community College and its local public high schools to support Career and Technical Education.

MACS is one of the statewide network of Education for Employment (EFE) groups, whose primary goal is to establish quality Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. These training programs incorporate the knowledge and skills needed in life as an integral part of academic and CTE programming and emphasize the continuum of learning from elementary through post-secondary education. Developing an

d promoting faculty-to-faculty and program-to-program articulation for advanced placement of CTE students;
The provision of in-service programming for staff to further expand the integration of academic and CTE course content;
The expansion of business and industry partnership collaborations, to enhance the delivery of career and technical education;
Providing technical support, assistance and leadership for CTE programs while serving as a liaison to the State Board of Education and Illinois Community College Board.

Congratulations to all participants in the Annual High School Business Competition!

On April 17th, students from across the district gathered at Moraine Valley Community College to take on a real‑world challenge: creating and presenting a full marketing plan for a fictional product revealed the morning of the event.

Their creativity, teamwork, and business savvy were on full display—every team should be proud of their work.

Over one hundred students from Eisenhower, Richards, Shepard, Reavis, Oak Lawn, Andrew, Stagg, Sandburg, and Evergreen Park high schools participated in the event.

Sincere appreciation to Dave Viar, Jim Greer, and Moraine Valley Community College for hosting an outstanding Welding Competition on Friday, February 13, 2026. Supporting students as they explore career opportunities in the trades remains essential.

Congratulations to all participating schools: Argo, Stagg, Evergreen Park, Richards, Eisenhower, and Joliet West. The competition featured a written exam as well as a SMAW skill assessment—each student demonstrated remarkable effort and skill.

On Monday, February 2, 2026, MVCC and MACS hosted the eleventh annual High School Automotive Skills Competition. The event featured students from Argo, Shepard, Richards, Oak Lawn, Andrew, and Stagg High Schools.

Students showcased their skills in both written and hands-on testing areas, including Electrical, Team On-Car, and Fasteners & Micrometers.

Thank you to Moraine Valley Community College for hosting a Mechanical Technology and Trades Expo on Friday, November 14, 2025, for the MACS regional high schools.

Several trades were represented as well as Moraine Valley's Welding, Automotive, HVAC, Industrial Maintenance Technician, and noncredit Nondestructive Testing programs.

A big thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to share their knowledge and expertise with our students!
