A new discovery?

MSRA is pleased to announce that we have discovered a new, large and intact shipwreck in the waters of Lake Michigan off West Michigan during our recently completed 2015 annual spring search. We wish to thank our membership and the audience who attends our annual film festival for their support in this expedition.

While confirmation of the vessel’s identity will be accomplished soon, we strongly believe this to be the exact ship that we were in search of, based on its size, shape and location.
Due to recent unsubstantiated claims made by other explorers, we are hesitant to name the shipwreck until video confirms its identity. This wreck appears to be one of the deepest shipwrecks yet found in Lake Michigan at nearly 400 feet.

In the photo, the dark shape is the hull, while the white acoustic shadow shows the profile of the vessel.

Documentation will take place over the next two months. The discovery was made under the leadership of the MSRA Board of Directors/crew: Jack and Valerie van Heest and Craig Rich, utilizing the services of side scan expert David Trotter, with additional MSRA crewmembers, Jeff Vos, Larry Hatcher, and Neel Zoss. Congratulations to the team who made it possible! PLEASE SHARE!

Listen to and watch your instructor. When he or she is demonstrating a skill, pay attention. They’re doing so for your benefit, and hopefully they have already mastered the skills themselves.
