📚 Adult Education Spotlight 🌟

Meet Christina, whose journey is a powerful story of determination and transformation.

In February 2023, Christina began her path with WVAdultEd with one goal in mind: becoming a nurse. At the time, she was in a medically assisted treatment program for addiction and facing uncertainty about her eligibility for nursing school due to her background.

💪 Christina didn’t let those challenges stop her. She studied hard for the nursing school entrance exam while working with DoHS and WV Legal Aid to navigate the complex requirements of the State Nursing Board.

With support from WVAdultEd staff like Hilary Nicolau and Cassidy Taylor from Jobs & Hope WV, Christina submitted court documents, completed drug screenings, wrote letters of explanation, and transitioned to a step-down program. She passed the TEAS exam and was accepted into nursing school.

🎓 Christina graduated from LPN Bootcamp with Fayette County Adult Education, then completed the rigorous LPN program at Fayette Institute of Technology in March 2025—with honors! She passed the NCLEX on her first try and is now considering multiple job offers.

💙 Christina credits WVAdultEd for believing in her—but most importantly, she began to believe in herself. Her journey is one of triumph over adversity and a foundation for a bright future for her and her three children.
