RE: Petition to schedule in-class Scantron Audit of Tests 1-7
Due to inaccuracies caught by students in reviewing their Scantrons independently, our class as a whole entity of 42 students respectfully requests a formal, in-class review with our instructors of the Scantrons for Tests 1-7. We request this be done as follows:
1. We receive Test 1.
2. The instructor reads off the answers.
3. After Test 1, any inaccuricies will be reviewed, agreed upon as being in error between the student/instructor, and recorded by the instructor.
4. We repeat this process with each test.
To address the concern of any possible "cheating", the students will ONLY have a highlighter on their desk with their Scantron sheet.
To move through this process efficiently, we wish to only see the Scantrons, and not our written answer sheet, to facilitate review of answers without debate or question.
We are petitioning you with this proposal to accomplish 3 goals:
1. Bring to light to administration Scantron grading policy issues.
2. Satisfy the ongoing and repeated requests by Nursing 102 students to personally see their Scantrons after each test due to previously discovered inaccuracies.
3. Stress the importance of implementing a new, fool-proof Scantron grading policy, either via hand grading between students/instructors OR by a student agreed-upon staff member, for next quarter.
Your consideration in this matter is greatly appreciated,
