Oak Grove R-VI Parents as Teachers

Back to School time is here! Our Parents as Teachers staff is excited to work with the families of Oak Grove again this year. We have some fun activities planned, and also look forward to connecting with many of you through educational home visits.
If you are not involved in home visits, but would like to be, please email [email protected] or call 816-690-3762. Our visits occur every 4-6 weeks (or whatever works for your family) during the school year and last about an hour. Think of us as "parenting coaches". We want to help encourage you in your parenting, talk about child development, and brainstorm with you to solve parenting dilemmas.
Playgroups are a time for free play in our playroom and connecting with other OG families. Mini Movers is a collaboration with OG parks and rec. It takes place at the OG fieldhouse. Parents, grandparents or caregivers are welcome to bring the kids to activities!

Dec 17th--probable pictures with Santa date--details pending

Thank you, Dolly.

For decades, Dolly Parton has helped put books into the hands of millions of young children through her Imagination Library, beginning at birth.

And those books represent so much more than learning to read.

In the earliest years, sharing a book is a chance for babies and toddlers to hear new words, explore the world, connect with the people who love them and build the relationships that help their brains grow. Long before a child can read the words on a page, they’re learning through every story, snuggle, point and conversation.

Inspired by her own father, who never had the opportunity to learn to read, Dolly turned a deeply personal experience into a commitment to making books more accessible to families, regardless of where they live or what they earn.

Her work is a powerful reminder that every child deserves opportunities to learn, connect and thrive from the very beginning.

Tomorrow, Monday, June 29th is our last Walking Club. We hope you can join us at 9:00am. We'll leave from the ECC and walk down to either Webb Park or if it's too hot we may play at the Primary playground. We'll enjoy a water and snack after.

What a fun day for “Music with Val”!

Tomorrow, we are hosting Walking Club at 9am and Music with Val at 10am. We are so excited to have you join us if you can. We also need to change our location for these events. There will be a law enforcement training day at OG Primary and ECC tomorrow. We need to stay out of their way, so we will now be meeting at the Board of Education building at 1205 SE Salem St Oak Grove, MO 64075. We will begin our walk from there and also have our Music class in the board room. See attached map--park in one of the circled areas and enter at the entrance near the X.

Sorry if you got an email today talking about walking club. That email went out Sunday night and just now went through!
The next walking club is next Monday followed by Music with Val. We would love to have you at either or both!

Reminder--
Tomorrow, June 1st–9am–Walking Club–meet at the ECC parking lot. We will go on a short walk to the playground and back. Feel free to bring your bikes, strollers, scooters, etc.
