Today, We Recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day
Indigenous Peoples’ Day honors the rich histories, diverse cultures, resilience, and lasting contributions of Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians.
Observed as an alternative to Columbus Day, this day encourages reflection on the history of Indigenous peoples, including the lasting impacts of colonization, while recognizing their strength, sovereignty, and continued contributions to our communities and nation.
Today is an opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate the traditions, heritage, and voices of Indigenous peoples—past, present, and future.
