Time to celebrate! All 6 of our cooperative programs were recently recognized by the Midwest PBIS Network for excellence in supporting our students' life goals.

Since implementing PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) in 2015, we've strengthened instruction, data-driven support, and family relationships across every program. Thanks to this hard work, each program earned two new badges this year:

Storytelling Badge: For sharing data-backed student success stories.

Action Planning Badge: For setting and achieving impactful goals.

We are so proud of our team's dedication to our learners!

Each month at Braun, we focus on a new virtue and coping skill as part of our school-wide PBIS expectations. For September, students are learning about self-control and taking a break.

These skills are taught and discussed during class and reinforced throughout the school with monthly lessons, visuals, and reminders. Our goal is to help students build practical skills they can use both at school and at home as they learn to make safe, respectful, and responsible choices.

DESTINY students at Kerkstra Elementary and Oak Forest High School kicked off the school year strong with this year's PBIS theme, "Let's Grow Together!". Throughout the week, classes reviewed and practiced positive behavioral expectations in creative, hands-on ways. Ms. Slisz's class at Oak Forest High School celebrated "Pawsitivity Day" with a game of UNO Attack, earning six flowers for their flower pot by practicing safe bodies, turn-taking, and kind words. Meanwhile, Ms. P's class at Kerkstra used AAC devices to review expectations and grow together as a classroom community.

Students were excited to return to school. Every child deserves a place where they feel safe, accepted, and free to explore. In our early childhood classroom at Morton Gingerwood School, young children with diverse needs build confidence as they discover new playgrounds and equipment, develop social skills, and experience the joy of learning through play and connection.

Transition was buzzing with energy today as students celebrated Student PBIS Kickoff! This year's theme is all about unlocking greatness, taking charge of our choices, and powering up our potential every single day.

Students got to customize their experience by choosing from an awesome lineup of activities throughout the day. It was incredible to see everyone supporting their peers, and bringing the positive vibes!

We are so proud of the fantastic atmosphere our students and staff created today. Let's keep this momentum going all year long!

Check out some of the best moments from our kickoff below!
