Yesterday, we celebrated our students with a free food truck party at MATC’s Oak Creek Campus! It was part of the campus’s 50th anniversary week, with a different theme or event each day. Thank you to everyone who helped bring our campus community together for the celebration!

Save the date! Our semi-annual Fire/EMS Job Fair is Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Oak Creek Campus. More than two dozen fire departments and EMS agencies will be on site to meet students and graduates and talk about who's hiring. It's a great chance to make connections, ask real questions and get your name out there. Bring your résumé and come ready to talk.

Last Friday, Milwaukee Area Technical College had a 9/11 day of remembrance on its Oak Creek Campus. We honored the memory of the police officers, fire fighters and EMTs who gave their lives on that fateful day. They ran towards danger to provide safety and protection for others. We would like to extend our gratitude to all who made the event so meaningful. A special thanks to Mount Pleasant Police Chief Robert Botsch for sharing his profound words with all of us. We will never forget.

Twenty-five years ago, first responders answered the call without hesitation. This Friday we honor them. Join MATC Protective Services for our 9/11 Commemoration Event as we remember the lives taken on September 11, 2001. The program includes the presentation of colors and national anthem, a memorial dedication led by MATC President Dr. Anthony Cruz, and a moment of silence with a musical tribute, "Amazing Grace," performed by John Bragle. For our EMS students, it is a reminder of the tradition of service you are stepping into. Friday, September 11, 1 p.m., at the MATC Oak Creek Campus Cafeteria Patio, 6665 S. Howell Avenue. Congratulations to Cohort 4, Paramedic Class #34! 🎓
25 students completed one of the most demanding programs in Wisconsin and are now ready to serve their communities as paramedics. It takes grit, dedication, and a real commitment to others to get here. This class had all of it.
