Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School must literally be all things to all people. This relatively small 700 student school provides all the educational services and most of the social services for students in grades 9 to 12. This includes full vocational programs, special education collaborative, mentorships, human services, and a complete range of college preparation courses, including Advanced

Placement. The school serves an island which is economically and socially diverse and has the lowest per capita income in the state. To meet these challenges it has one of the most honored high school faculties, an extremely involved student body and many active parent groups. MVRHS is recognized for creative programs, success in athletics and an extraordinary attention to the fine and performing arts. The world language department and the music department maintain exchanges with sister schools in six foreign nations. The breadth, depth, and quality of its efforts are the things which bring national recognition to Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. One of very few schools to have won the National Blue Ribbon School Award 2 times

Vineyard Regional High School was the only public high school in the Commonwealth selected for the National Blue Ribbon School Award and one of 111 nationwide. The other Massachusetts schools were: Bishop Stang High School in North Dartmouth, Timilty Middle School in Roxbury and Marblehead Middle School. Every public and private high school and middle school in the country (around 100,000) was invited to apply. The fifty states, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Department of Defense selected 492 schools for further consideration by the US Department of Education. Based on site evaluations 266 were selected for the award: 111 public high schools, 50 private high schools, 87 middle school and 18 junior high schools.

🎉 MVRHS is a Unified Champion School! 💜🤍

We are honored to announce that Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School has been named a 2025–2026 Special Olympics Massachusetts Unified Champion School!

This designation recognizes our commitment to creating a school community where everyone belongs, everyone participates, and everyone has the opportunity to shine.

Through Unified Sports, inclusive youth leadership, and whole-school engagement, our students and staff are building meaningful connections between students with and without intellectual disabilities — on the playing field, in the classroom, and throughout our community.

Being a Unified Champion School is about more than a title. It reflects our commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and acceptance and empowers our students to be advocates for positive change.

A huge congratulations to our students, staff, coaches, and entire MVRHS community for helping create a school where every individual’s unique contribution is valued. 💜

Smile, MVRHS! School Picture Days are September 24th & 25th in the PAC Lobby. Students will be called by English class, so listen for your group and be ready to say cheese! 😊

All students need to be photographed because you’ll receive a barcoded student ID that you’ll need to use at school.

📷 O’Connor Studios will be taking this year’s photos and will email families with information about ordering prints. If you order online, prints will be mailed directly to your home.

Friday was Freshman Orientation Day! 🎉
Our students participated in a fun scavenger hunt to help them get to know the school a little better, met all of their teachers, enjoyed lunch together, and experienced so much more!

It was a wonderful day filled with new faces, new friendships, and lots of excitement for the year ahead.

Today was Island’s School Convocation Day!

We gathered in the MVRHS Performing Arts Center to gear up for another school year, reconnect with one another, and talk about expectations for the year ahead.

Of course, MVRHS always likes to bring a little fun to the occasion—and this year, our theme was “The Greatest School on Earth!” 🌎🎪

Let’s just say… it was quite a circus today! 🤡🎠

There was plenty of energy, laughter, and excitement as we welcomed a new school year. We’re ready for another great year of learning, growing, and working together.

Welcome, Class of 2030! 🎉

We are excited to welcome our newest students to Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School! Freshman Orientation is designed to help students get comfortable with the building, meet their teachers, find their classrooms, and get ready for an amazing year ahead.

🕢 7:20–7:40 AM | Arrival in the PAC
Students should arrive and check in at the Performing Arts Center.

🎤 7:40–7:55 AM | Welcome & Introductions - A special welcome from MVRHS administrators, student support staff, athletics, and teachers.

📚 8:00–8:40 AM | Morning Meeting Rooms
Students will:
Receive schedules and school maps
Review schedule information
Set up Google logins
Meet fellow classmates
Participate in icebreakers and introductions

🔎 8:40–9:10 AM | Scavenger Hunt
Time to explore MVRHS! Students will participate in a fun scavenger hunt to become familiar with the school.

🏫 9:25–11:20 AM | Class Rotation
Students will walk through their schedules and visit each of their classes, giving them the opportunity to meet teachers and find their way around before the first day of school.

❓ 11:20–11:30 AM | Morning Meeting & Questions
Students will have time to ask questions and learn more about school routines and lunch.

🍕 11:30 AM–12:00 PM | Lunch
Students will receive an introduction to lunch procedures and experience what lunchtime at MVRHS is like. What's for lunch? MVRHS famous pizza.

👋 12:00 PM | Dismissal - Buses will be available
