🚨 NEW ILLINOIS LAW UPDATE – EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2026 🚨

Illinois has amended its Fi****ms; Child Protection law, and gun owners need to be aware of what changed.

🔹 What’s new?
• The age threshold increased from under 14 to under 18
• Applies to minors without a FOID card
• Removes the “reasonable person” storage standard
• Fi****ms must now be secured with a locking device or stored in a locked container

🔹 What this means:
If a minor under 18 gains access to an unsecured firearm and causes death or great bodily harm, the person in control of the premises may face:
• Class C misdemeanor and a minimum $1,000 fine
• Class A misdemeanor for repeat violations

🔹 Important exceptions remain:
✔ Lawful self-defense or defense of another
✔ Fi****ms obtained through unlawful entry

This law significantly expands liability for lawful gun owners and narrows acceptable storage options. Whether you agree or disagree, knowing the law is critical.
