You might have seen it from the highway. On two separate days rooftop units were lifted into place at North Middle as the HVAC replacement project is in full swing. Inside, unit ventilators have been removed from classrooms. The new systems don’t require the noisy ventilators and their removal has freed up a few square feet of space per room. The process is also underway at Pheasant Point, Rock Creek and Westhoff elementary schools. By the end of the summer, HVAC systems will have been updated at 14 schools since voters approved Prop 4 in 2022.

What happens when businesses partner with public schools to do what’s best for kids? They empower the workforce of tomorrow! Congratulations to the newest Certified Apprentices from across St. Charles County’s five public school districts, who were recognized at a recent celebration. Students and families wanting to explore the program were able to talk with coordinators, employers and alumni who have completed the program during the event. Watch for information on FZSD’s next apprenticeship night in the fall. Have questions now? Start at go.FZSD.us/Apprenticeships

Did you hear? FZN football coach Joe Bacon was recently inducted into the St. Louis Metro Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame! Bacon began with the program as an assistant coach in 1997 and has been head coach since 2008. Under his leadership, the team is 151–58, has 13 conference titles and 9 district titles. The team has appeared in four state semifinal games and played for the state title in 2016. Congrats!

For our crews, summer means full speed ahead! Custodial teams have already prepped buildings hosting summer programs, which start Monday. Unit ventilators are being removed at four schools getting new HVAC and, you might have noticed, work is underway on the parking lots at West High (shown) and North High. Maintenance and upgrades made possible through community support of FZ Prop 4 in 2022. Thank you!
