Art Gecko Creative Studio

The studio is packing its bags! Art Gecko Studio will be closed this week as our staff, a group of our dedicated art journalers, and our talented watercolor artists head off to Santa Fe for an epic, inspiration-filled art adventure! We are trading the classroom for the desert sun to fill up our journals, paint the beautiful landscapes, explore new galleries, and bring back tons of fresh ideas.Don't worry, we won't be gone for long—we will resume all classes the week of October 6th! Keep an eye on our social media for sneak peeks of our sketches, paintings, and artistic journey, and get ready to create with us when we return.

Challenge alert!! Can you find the reflecting face? The crinkled boot? The pattern of complementary colors?

Check out these drawings made by the young Gecko artists now that the weather is cooler and it’s been a little rainy. Artists were encouraged to think about light, reflection, and personal story as they created their interpretations of rain boots.

Get ready for two hours of leisure-paced, collaborative creativity at our Tipsy Tangles: A Collaborative Art Night!

Join us this Saturday, September 26, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM for an early evening filled with mystery, drinks, and collective artmaking. This is a BYOB and snack-friendly event, so feel free to bring your favorite drinks and treats to enjoy while you create!

Bring your friends, significant others, siblings, neighbors—whoever you have fun with!

If you've never played, Exquisite Co**se is a legendary surrealist party game where players draw sections of a design on a folded piece of paper, passing it along without seeing what the person before them created. The result? A series of hilariously mismatched, beautifully chaotic, and completely unpredictable collaborative masterpieces! Grab your refreshments, gather your favorite crowd, and let's see what kind of wild tangles we can create together at a relaxed, fun pace.

Ready to join the fun?Go to artgeckostudio.org/upcoming-events and click on September 26th to secure your spot!

Welcome back to the studio young artists! The first project of the season had the Geckos talking about how to add layers of meaning and creating backgrounds with significant numbers. The portraits are painted using only light and dark hues. We are proud of how observant of subtle value changes these artists were as they persevered through a challenging prompt.
