Did You Know? 🎻

The NPS Chamber Orchestra has been invited to perform at the prestigious ASTA National Orchestra Festival in Chicago in February 2027! This extraordinary opportunity will allow our talented young musicians to perform alongside outstanding orchestras from across the nation while proudly representing Nyack on a national stage.

As part of their fundraising efforts to help make the trip to Chicago possible, the group recently performed at The Angel—and brought down the house with their incredible talent! Our music department in the Nyack Public Schools continues to do amazing things and we couldn’t be prouder of our dedicated students and their directors. We’re so excited to see them take this next big step.

Let’s show our NPS Chamber Orchestra some love as they prepare for this exciting musical journey! 🎶

🏫 Safety First!

At Nyack Public Schools, safety is a top priority and that means making it an important part of our students’ curriculum as a part of . During elementary PBIS assemblies, students learned important ways to help keep themselves and others safe at school while testing their knowledge during trivia and relay races challenges vs staff.

Learners "Caught in the Act" were recognized and rewarded as Safety Stars for demonstrating safe behaviors and showing their understanding of school safety throughout the month. The class who took on and displayed the strongest commitment to safety earned the coveted STAR Trophy! 🏆

💡 How can we all help keep our schools safe?
✅ Walk in the hallways and keep hands, feet and objects to ourselves.
✅ Follow directions from teachers and school staff.
✅ Use playground equipment/class resources safely and include others.
✅ Keep classrooms and hallways clear of backpacks and other obstacles.
✅ Report unsafe situations or anything that makes us feel uncomfortable to a trusted adult.
✅ Get to know emergency procedures, exits and take all safety instructions seriously.

By making thoughtful choices, showing respect and looking out for one another, we can help create safe, welcoming schools where everyone can learn and grow.

A big shout-out to our Safety Stars and trophy-winning class for leading by example! 🌟

🔴⚫ HOMECOMING HYPE! 🔴⚫

We kicked off Homecoming Weekend with an EPIC pep rally! Our students and staff came together for an afternoon packed with friendly competition, performances, school spirit and plenty of good sportsmanship.

From musical chairs to PIE-ING THE PRINCIPAL (Dr. Chandler is the BEST sport! 🥧😂), the festivities were OFF THE CHARTS! Our pep rally has reached a whole new level this fall, thanks to our incredible Athletics Office and Nyack Nation for bringing the energy, creativity and challenges!

A special shout-out to all the administrators and staff who took time out of their busy day to join the fun and show off their Red & Black spirit.

🏆🎺 - A FIRST-PLACE FINISH! 🥁

Our Red Storm Marching Band started competition season in a BIG way this past Sunday. The band traveled to Arlington High School for a NYSFBC competition. Although rain ultimately moved the performances indoors, our musicians didn’t miss a beat!

In fact, they earned 1ST PLACE IN THEIR DIVISION and a musical rating of “OUTSTANDING!”🥇

Help us congratulate our talented students, dedicated staff and everyone who helped make the trip a big success. Way to make us proud !

Shared Heritage, Shared Culture | Nuestra Voz, Nuestra Cultura!

¡Qué celebración tan especial! Hispanic Heritage Month brought the FUEGO 🔥 to the stage with an energetic, student-led assembly celebrating culture, identity and community. Organized by the Hispanic Heritage Club alongside our ENL, World Languages, Art, Music and Guidance departments, the event welcomed students in grades 9–12 for a vibrant showcase of Hispanic and Latino heritage.

Through readings, song, dance, performances, cultural facts and skits, students honored their roots and explored customs passed down through generations. The morning also featured reflections on Solito and a lively Quinceañera fashion show (our students WORKED that runway! 👏), celebrating a meaningful milestone in many Hispanic and Latino communities.

This year’s theme, “Nuestra Voz, Nuestra Cultura” (Our Voice, Our Culture), rang throughout the auditorium as students shared their perspectives, expressed their pride and celebrated the cultural influences that shape their lives.

¡Muchas gracias! to our incredible students and staff for making this spirited assembly a favorite !

🗞️ EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!

By Student Reporters | History Desk

In a remarkable display of historical investigation and journalistic creativity, our eighth grade students have stepped into the newsroom to report on one of the most transformative periods in American history. As part of their study of the Reconstruction Era (1865–1877), students assumed the roles of newspaper editors and journalists, crafting historical newspapers that captured the major events, debates and perspectives of the time.

From examining the issues that shaped the nation to exploring how different groups experienced and interpreted the same events, these young reporters put their critical-thinking and storytelling skills to the test. 📰✍️
