Yantacaw Community A page to celebrate the Yantacaw community, including current students and alumni Yantacaw Community (formerly Yantacaw PTO)

Hi! Best,

Janice

While the new Executive Board was given access to this page, the new PTO leaders for the 2019-2020 school year decided not to use this page, which I had originally created in 2012. As there is some confusion between this page and the page the new leaders have created, I have decided to change the name to distinguish the two. Not affiliated with the Executive Board, I would still like to share interesting news related to Yantacaw students, alumni and parents. If you wish to share an accomplishment of your Yantacaw kiddo, please feel free to share. Visitors are now able to post on this page. Please note that I will not be able to answer any PTO related questions on this page. I have enjoyed building this Facebook Yantacaw community for 7 years and thought it would be great to maintain that in a different way.

This year's Battle of the Books competition was fantastic! We offer a big congrats to The Te****le Turners: James, Navid, Matthew, and Atakan, for taking home the win! And we have to give a shout-out to our emcee contest winners, Gabriel and Molly for being such great hosts. They really kept things fun and kept the whole event moving smoothly.

Thank you also to our PTO who have supplied the books and t-shirts for this event since this event began 21 years ago. It is such a huge part of what makes Battle of the Books a tradition here at Yantacaw.

Congratulations to one of our Yantacaw fifth grade students, Sammy Aronoff. He has been named the Essex County winner of the Species on the Edge Art + Essay Contest!

This statewide contest challenges fifth grade students to research and advocate for an at-risk New Jersey wildlife species through an original essay and artwork. Sammy’s winning project focused on the Cerulean Warbler, an endangered species in New Jersey. As the Essex County winner, Sammy’s artwork will be featured in the contest calendar, displayed in exhibits across New Jersey, and recognized at an awards ceremony and educational trip to Sedge Island.

What makes this even more special is that this marks the third consecutive year that the Essex County winner has been a Yantacaw fifth grade student, a wonderful reflection of our students’ creativity, dedication, and commitment to learning. We are incredibly proud of Sammy and this continued tradition of excellence!
