Parents of High School Students! This Is For You! 🎓
If your child is in high school and college is even remotely on your radar… you should not be navigating this process alone.
Every year, I see incredibly capable students get denied, deferred, or waitlisted not because they weren’t “good enough,” but because they didn’t understand how to strategically position themselves in today’s admissions landscape.
I’m Ashleigh Taylor, former senior admissions officer at the University of Michigan and founder of Empowered 4 College.
I now help families understand what actually matters in selective college admissions and how to make the smartest and most strategic decisions before senior year.
Inside my private Facebook group, I share:
✔️ Insider admissions insight (what colleges are really looking for)
✔️ Common mistakes families make (and how to avoid them)
✔️ Guidance on academics, activities, and overall positioning
✔️ Honest, no-fluff advice about competitive admissions
This process has changed over the past 5-10 years.
And the students who stand out aren’t doing more… they’re doing things more intentionally.

Quick update for Class of 2027 parents! ✨
I had a great response to the early registration for the Empowered Application Intensive, and a number of families have already secured their child’s seat.
At this point, I have about 8 spots left for the summer.
I’m keeping this program intentionally small so I can really work closely with each student during the office hour sessions and to allow myself enough time for a thorough final review of each student’s application file.
If your child is planning to apply for early deadlines this fall and you’ve been thinking about getting essay and app support, now is the time to lock this in.
I’ll drop the link below for anyone who wants to take a deeper look or secure a spot.
Empowered Application Intensive: College Essay and Application Help The Empowered Application Intensive is a college application coaching program for rising seniors. Students receive structured personal statement coaching, support with supplemental essays and activity lists, and a final application review, so they can submit polished, competitive applications.
📣 New Program Page + Final Day for Early Enrollment
Over the past few weeks, many of you have asked for more details about the new program I created for rising seniors who missed the opportunity to join the Counseling Program but still want structured support with their college applications.
I’m excited to share that the Empowered Application Intensive webpage is now live and provides a thorough explanation of everything included in the program.
On the page, you’ll find details about:
✔️ Personal statement coaching through a structured 10-step writing process
✔️ Supplemental essay and activity list support
✔️ Live office hours for application strategy questions
✔️ My comprehensive final application review before students submit
✔️ A full FAQ section answering many common questions
If you’ve been considering this opportunity for your Class of 2027 student, I encourage you to review the page in full so you can determine whether it’s the right fit for your student.
⚠️ Important: Today is the final day to secure the early enrollment rate for the Empowered Application Intensive. The price will increase after today.

Parents of the Class of 2027 (current juniors)!
The college application process officially opens in less than five months.
For many students, the most overwhelming part of that process is knowing how to position themselves effectively through essays, activities, and application strategy.
Due to demand from those who were not able to secure a seat in my Empowered Counseling Program, I’ve opened a limited opportunity for Class of 2027 students who want essay and application support during summer 2026, the Empowered Application Intensive.
This program is designed specifically for students who want expert guidance while preparing their college applications, including:
• Personal statement and supplemental essay coaching with a certified Wow Writing coach
• Strategic guidance on presenting activities and accomplishments
• Monthly office hours for ongoing support
• Instructional videos from myself covering the most important elements of the application process
• Final application review by a former admissions professional
The goal is to help students approach the application process with clarity, confidence, and a strong strategy before senior year begins.
⚠️ Early registration pricing for the Empowered Application Intensive ends this Sunday.
After that point, pricing will increase and remaining spots (if available) will be released at the standard rate.
If you are interested in learning more or securing a spot for your child, feel free to share your email below or through Messenger.

Last Reminder: Registration for the Empowered Counseling Program closes tonight.
I will reassess whether additional space can be made available for the Class of 2028 and 2029 in late summer or early fall.
Until then, my focus will shift to supporting my current freshman and sophomore students, along with juniors who are beginning the college application and essay writing process for the upcoming cycle.
I have received a few inquiries regarding Ross School of Business transfer help for the app due on 3/31.
My capacity is limited, but if interested, please email [email protected]

This is a big one!! Ever wondered how colleges know if your teen’s course load is truly challenging?
If you have a high school student, have you heard this before?
Be sure that you’re seeking quality advice that’s not one-size-fits-all. I’ve seen far too many students who think they’re making the right curriculum decisions, but in reality, they are not on track for the colleges they are pursuing.

The University of Michigan released their early decision notifications a few days ago and many were postponed.
