Sandpaper letters are a hands-on Montessori language activity that introduces children to the shape and sound of each letter. The textured letters allow children to feel the correct formation with their fingers before they begin writing with a pencil.
In this picture, one of our preschooler at Novi Montessori is carefully tracing a sandpaper letter and then practicing the same movement in a tray of sand. This gives the child an engaging, sensory way to repeat the letter shape while working at their own pace.
This activity supports letter recognition, early phonics, fine motor development, concentration, and muscle memory. By seeing, touching, and tracing each letter, children build a strong and confident foundation for reading and writing.

Our annual end of the summer Carnival. We would like to thank all our parent volunteers, we really do appreciate all the help you did. The children had a blast. They didn’t want it to end.

At Novi Woods Montessori we love bringing in more fun activities as well as the learning experience. This summer has brought a lot of learning and fun with our in house field trips, along with our bike days, experimenting, tie dye, slime and a lot more. Our Hula Hoop science was fun and all children got to interact with music and Hula Hoops. Sorry to see our summer ending soon.

A wonderful Creative Art Camp Week at Novi Woods Montessori!

Our children enjoyed a week filled with creativity, exploration, and hands-on learning through slime projects, tie-dye, park days, biking, and splash pad fun.

At Novi Woods Montessori, our Montessori approach was woven into every experience. Sensorial, Practical Life, Science, Language, and Cultural Studies all came alive through their creative projects and outdoor explorations.

As a team, one of our favorite moments was seeing the children proudly wearing the tie-dye shirts they created themselves. Their creativity, confidence, and joy made this week truly special.

At Novi Woods Montessori, infants are surrounded by a loving and nurturing environment where they can explore, discover, learn, and grow at their own pace. Every little smile, movement, and milestone is celebrated.

We had lots of fun with the Caribbean Drums, Limbo, tossing beach balls, hula hoops and singing. Also learning what the difference is in drums. 😊

Every corner at Novi Woods Montessori is thoughtfully prepared to inspire learning. Our cozy reading📚 nook in the Older Toddler classroom encourages children to explore books, build friendships, strengthen language skills, and develop a love for reading in a calm and inviting environment.

It’s in these little moments of curiosity and connection that confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning begin to grow. ❤️

Aloha from Novi Woods Montessori! 🌺

Our children had a blast enjoying our Hawaiian theme week! Despite the poor air quality and heat wave outside, we made the most of our time indoors with engaging academics, creative theme-based crafts, fun games, and activities that supported their mental focus, coordination, and physical strength. 🌴

Whatever the weather brings, we are committed to creating joyful, meaningful experiences for our children. Their smiles, curiosity, and love for coming to school make every moment special! 💛
