🎣🏆 STATE CHAMPIONS! 🏆🎣

History made on Lake Charlevoix.

On May 30, Anthony Oliver ’28 and Donnie Periard ’28 captured the TBF-SAF Michigan High School State Championship, weighing in 20.86 lbs. to earn the first Fishing State Championship in Catholic Central history.

The duo isn’t finished yet. They’ll have another opportunity to claim a state title at the Michigan Bass Nation Tournament in August and have already qualified for both the 2026 SAF National Tournament, 2026 Bassmaster National Tournament, and the 2027 SAF National Tournament.

The success continued on May 31 as Andrew Ryner ’28 and his partner from Everest Collegiate, Charlie Schmitt, won their Michigan Youth Bass Fishing Association Tournament on Lake Charlevoix with an impressive 22.36 lbs catch.

Catholic Central’s Christopher Okoye ’14 was recently named to Oakland County’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2026, a recognition honoring emerging leaders, innovators, and changemakers making a significant impact across business, education, public service, and community leadership throughout Oakland County.

The program highlights young professionals who exemplify leadership, collaboration, and service while helping shape the future of the county.
