This is a place for parents raising junior golfers in southeast Michigan to connect, trade advice, and stay in the loop on tournaments and development opportunities happening around the area.

🏒➡️⛳️ FROM THE ICE TO UNDER PAR!

A HUGE congratulations to Dr. Robbie Kohen on breaking par for the FIRST TIME! 🔥👏

Robbie is a former University of Michigan hockey player who somehow decided that after years of playing a nice, relaxing sport like hockey, he needed something more stressful…

So naturally, he chose golf. 😂

And like most competitive athletes, Robbie didn’t just want to play golf. He wanted to figure out how to get really good at it.

He’s been knocking on the door of breaking par for a LONG time. Plenty of close calls. Plenty of rounds where one swing, one putt or one bad decision kept him from getting over the hump.

Not anymore.

UNDER. PAR. 👊🔥

One of Robbie’s greatest qualities is how coachable he is. You give him information and he doesn’t spend three weeks debating it, watching 47 YouTube videos and asking ChatGPT for a second opinion. 😂

He listens. He understands it. He applies it.

That’s a pretty powerful recipe for improvement.

Robbie is passionate about the game, loves getting better and has supported BE Golf for years. We’re incredibly grateful for his trust and even happier to see all that work pay off.

🎯 ONE THING. ONE THOUGHT. ONE SHOT.

Bobby Jones understood something decades ago that neuroscience continues to reinforce today:

“When I think about three things during my swing I’m playing poorly… when I think of only one thing I could win the tournament.”

At BE Golf, we preach the Commitment to One Thing Principle for a reason.

Golfers often assume that more thinking = more control.

In reality, it can be the exact opposite.

🧠 When you’re standing over the ball consciously thinking about your takeaway, backswing, wrist angles, transition, hip rotation, clubface AND where the ball might go… your brain is trying to consciously control a movement that happens far too quickly for conscious thought.

That increased activity in the prefrontal cortex can interfere with the automatic motor processes you’ve trained—creating tension, disrupting coordination and producing those swings that leave you thinking:

“Where in the world did THAT come from?” 😂

That’s why we train golfers to simplify.

Pick ONE THING.

It might be a feel.
It might be freedom.
It might be a target.
It might be a tempo cue.
It might simply be committing to the shot in front of you.

But once you’ve chosen it…

Commit to it. Detach from the result. Swing.

The goal isn’t to think your way through the golf swing.

The goal is to become so skilled that you can get out of your own way and let it happen.

That’s the BE Golf Commitment to One Thing Principle. 🎯

🏆 THE ONE MISSING PIECE… CHECKED OFF THE LIST! 🏆

A HUGE congratulations to Shelly Weiss on winning her first Club Championship at Plum Hollow Country Club! 👏⛳️

Shelly has built quite the golf résumé over the years. She’s won plenty, competed at a high level, and earned a lot of hardware along the way.

But there was always one thing missing from that résumé…

“Plum Hollow Club Champion.”

Not anymore. 🏆

We know how much this one meant to you, Shelly, and we couldn’t be more proud.

There aren’t many people we know who have more passion for the game. Shelly is always thirsty for knowledge, always searching for another way to improve, and—maybe most importantly—she genuinely loves the process of getting better.

There aren’t many days that go by where you won’t find her at the golf course working on her game.

Shelly is another great example of something we believe deeply at BE Golf:

Real improvement is built over YEARS, not weeks.

She’s trusted the process, stayed curious, continued to put in the work, and battled through all the inevitable ups and downs this crazy game throws at you.

And now she finally gets to add those four words to an already impressive résumé:

🏆 MICHIGAN GOLF HISTORY.

A massive congratulations to Peter Stassinopoulos, your 105th GAM Championship winner!

Peter, we couldn’t be more proud of you.

People see the trophy. They see the leaderboard. They see the celebration.

What they don’t see are the countless hours behind the scenes that made this possible.

You’ve worked harder on your game than just about anyone we’ve ever been around. You’ve stayed committed to your training for years. And maybe most importantly—you’ve had the courage to do it your way.

A lot of people probably thought you were crazy for choosing not to play college golf.

Yet this week, you went out and beat many of the most talented college players in the country.

You may not play college golf, but you’ve surrounded yourself with some of the best college players in Michigan. You compete with them. You learn from them. You push each other. And somewhere along the way, many of them became some of your best friends.

You created your own environment. Your own path. Your own success formula.

And it worked.

We admire your grit. Your humility. Your work ethic. And your willingness to stay true to yourself and make decisions based on what was best for YOU and your golf game—not what everyone else thought you should do.

And selfishly, we’re incredibly grateful you’ve stuck with us through this whole ride.

3 business rebrands.
3 different buildings.
4 different golf courses. 😂

At this point, you deserve some kind of BE Golf lifetime achievement award just for surviving all of that.

But we think this trophy will do just fine. 🏆

Because now, forever etched on the GAM Championship trophy alongside some of the finest players this state has ever produced, will be the name:

PETER STASSINOPOULOS.

Nobody can ever take that away from you.

You’re officially part of Michigan golf history.

Congratulations, Peter. We’re incredibly proud of the golfer you’ve become—but even more proud of the person you’ve remained throughout the journey.

🚨Success Story!🚨

We’d like to congratulate Billy Stemzynski and his partner Reed for winning The Championship flight at The Grosse Ile county club member quest!🏆

The unique part of this story is he’s won his flight 4 years in a row!!!!

He won the 3rd flight, the 2nd flight, the 1st flight, and captured the Championship flight this past weekend.

Billy’s story demonstrates the power of intention and focused effort. He set his mind toward winning the championship flight back in 2011 when he first started playing. This weekend, he pulled it off.💪
