Today I had the privilege of joining Anthony Corona on Sunday Edition.

Some conversations stay with you long after they end. This was one of them.

Anthony shared his remarkable journey of losing his vision to shingles, finding hope again, and building a life dedicated to encouraging and advocating for others. His courage, compassion, and generosity were truly inspiring.

Together we talked about American Sign Language, blindness, advocacy, assistive technology, Deaf Awareness Month, and my passion for helping every child experience language, communication, connection, and belonging.

Anthony reminded me that when we listen to one another's stories, we discover far more that unites us than divides us.

Thank you, Anthony, for your kindness, your friendship, and for using your platform to bring people together. I'm especially grateful that you'll be sharing our conversation again during Deaf Awareness Month to help spread awareness and encourage others.

What an incredible privilege to share the mission behind ASL Picture Books with Dr. Gregory and his worldwide audience.

We'll be talking about how language changes lives, why every child deserves communication, connection, and belonging, and how American Sign Language can empower children, families, educators, and communities. I'll also share the story behind My Monster Truck Goes Everywhere with Me and the journey that led me to this mission.

This recognition means so much to me—not because of a list, but because of the people behind it.

Every parent practicing signs with their child.
Every teacher making their classroom more inclusive.
Every Deaf mentor sharing their language and culture.
Every reader who has encouraged ASL Picture Books along the way.

💙 The Blue Water Festival is happening today… we’re just not there. 💙

For the safety of our community, the Michigan SCBWI authors scheduled for today’s Blue Water Street Fair in Port Huron have chosen not to participate because of the poor air quality caused by Canadian wildfire smoke.

While we won’t have the opportunity to meet you in person today, we’d love to introduce you to the wonderful books created by these talented authors.

💜 Trusted resources matter.

I remember taking ASL classes at Madonna University. Each week, we were given a list of new signs to learn and practice.

After class, a few of us would often stay behind to compare signs.

"Wait...are you sure that's the correct movement?"

"I learned it this way."

Sometimes there were two or even three different versions of the same sign.

If another experienced signer was nearby, they could usually help us. But what happened when you were home practicing on your own?

How could you be confident you were learning the sign correctly?

That's when I discovered the importance of finding trusted ASL resources—websites created and maintained by knowledgeable educators and members of the Deaf community. They became invaluable tools for checking handshapes, movement, palm orientation, location, and other sign parameters whenever I had a question.

The organizations featured here are resources I've trusted and recommended for years. I'm delighted to see many of them also recognized on Feedspot's Top ASL Blogs list, and we're honored to include them on our own ASL Resources page.
