In Mexico, September is the month when we proudly celebrate our nation. This year we are celebrating our 216 years of our Independence of Mexico, from a young age, we are taught to love and respect our homeland, our flag and traditions.
Our becarios along with the Volunteers enjoyed days full of fun activities, our becarios act a beautiful representation of the “Grito de Independencia”, traditional games, delicious food, cooking clases, strengthening the bonds of friendship and community.

We are proud to welcome visitors from San Diego, CA, to our "Fiesta Mexicana" Service Week. Along with enjoying the rich aromas, flavors, and vibrant colors of traditional Mexican food and taking part in Mexican Independence Day celebrations, our service weeks always feature one of our most meaningful traditions: delivering mini-libraries to local primary schools and preschools, where we are always welcomed with open arms.

Learning and having fun at the same time is definitely possible!

We had an amazing week: we started our mornings full of learning in our English as a Second Language (ESL) classes , and to top it all off, we became chefs making pizzas and delicious chocolate chip cookies! 🍕🍪

As if that weren't enough, we also visited Café Cereza to get an up-close look at the fascinating world of coffee.

Kicking off another incredible ESL Service Week!

Our amazing volunteers are guiding our students on an exciting journey to learn English as a second language through hands-on activities, games, and lots of laughs!

Highlight of the week so far? Visiting the local farmers market to shop for ingredients and making our very own pizzas from scratch! 🍕

En Project Amigo nos gusta cerrar nuestras actividades con broche de oro y que mejor que con gratitud y reconocimiento.

La pasada semana de servicio, fue nuestra semana de natación, donde nuestros becarios tuvieron la oportunidad de aprender una habilidad de vida de la mano de un maravilloso grupo de voluntarios de gran corazón, sin ellos nada de esto seria posible.

Agradecemos profundamente el apoyo y gestion brindada por el Parque Regional Griselda Alvarez, reconocemos a su personal administrativo, mantenimiento y su equipo de guardavidas quienes son personas increibles que se sumaron a esta misión.

During Swim Week service week 2026, we didn't just teach a vital life skill to our scholars—we also filled their backpacks with so much love and school supplies!

In this edition, we had the special opportunity to deliver these backpacks to our new becarios in Zacualpan, and share super creative and fun activities with our swim week participants. Seeing their smiles and eagerness to learn reminds us that every effort is worth it.
So many beautiful memories, new friendships and fun!
