Olive Elementary School

Our Scholastic Book Fair is open! The Book Fair will be open Monday - Thursday before and after school, during Open House from 6:30-7:30 PM, and on Friday morning before school. A HUGE thank you to our for coordinating and running this event!

Thank you for providing Emergency Preparedness Training for our families. Our families learned how to better prepare for disasters and also received an emergency kit to help get them started.

We celebrated Read Across America by inviting Novato community members to our classrooms to read a few books and inspire the love of reading. A HUGE shout out to all of our special visitors and our for making this event happen!

We celebrated this week with our very first Underground Staff Spirit Week! At first our students (and maybe parents too) were a little confused, but as the week went on our students were excited to see what kind of outfits our staff showed up to school wearing.

Today we welcomed the Zuzu African Acrobats who displayed amazing talent!

Happy 100th Day of School! Today was filled with activity! Sinaloa’s 7th/8th grade band performed for our 3rd-5th graders to show them how fun it can be to play an instrument in middle school. Our TK-1st graders celebrated 100 days of school by counting 100 snacks, drawing a 100 Day monster, making a 100 Day crown, and coming up with 100 words. Who knew counting to 100 could be so fun! Finally, visitors from the Sonoma Water District visited our Kindergarten classes to talk about where our water comes from, where it goes, and how we can help to conserve water.

Cousin Danny visited Olive today and brought a lot of energy, dance, and inspiration to move our bodies!

Our students came to school styling in their winter sweaters and hats for our December Spirit Day!

Our Holiday Store opened today! Classes will come through each day and students will get the chance to pick out two gifts to give to loved ones this holiday season. This could not be possible without the coordination and dedication of our Olive Elementary PTA and the many volunteers who signed up to help throughout the week! A special shout out to Pini Hardware and Harbor Freight for their generous donations!

Thank you to the following businesses for helping to provide lunches and treats for all our Olive staff during our very busy Parent-Teacher Conference Week: Carmen’s La Hacienda, China Village, Michael’s Sourdough, Blue Barn Novato, and Sax’s Joint. We are so grateful for the support of these local businesses, the Olive PTA, and many of our own Olive families for helping to make these lunches possible. Thank you, Olive community!
