Welcome to the Fighting Irish family! โ˜˜๏ธ Getting to a new country and university can be daunting, especially when navigating transit for the first time.

Most international graduate students land at Chicago Oโ€™Hare (ORD) or Chicago Midway (MDW). But how do you safely make that final leg of the journey to South Bend? Swipe left for our official travel and safety breakdown! ๐Ÿงญ

๐Ÿ›‘ Safety First at ORD:
When exiting the airport terminals, stay alert. Beware of unlicensed transportation solicitors (scammers) offering rides in the arrivals area. ONLY use official taxi lines or designated Uber/Lyft pickup zones. If you need to rent a vehicle, follow the signs to ride the complimentary internal airport train (ATS) directly to the CAR RENTAL facility!

๐Ÿ’ฐ GSG Airport Transit Assistance:
To ease your transition, the Graduate Student Government (GSG) provides a one-time $80 USD reimbursement for newly arriving international graduate students! This subsidy helps cover the cost of your train, bus, or rideshare tickets from your arrival airport to campus or your local apartment.

โš ๏ธ Crucial Tip: Save every single itemized receipt from your journey, as you will need them to submit your reimbursement form after you arrive.
