September saw University of Notre Dame students immersing themselves in cultural and academic experiences across the University's global network. In Santiago and London, cohorts engaged with local traditions through clay sculpting and Shakespearean theater workshops; in Dublin, scholars promoted sustainability during a bookstore crawl; in Jerusalem, gap-year students explored academic paths; and in the Eternal City, international scholars and research fellows examined rare volumes at the American Academy in Rome.

Meanwhile, recruitment efforts gathered momentum through counselor workshops in Mexico and student fairs in Brazil and Hong Kong. Research dialogues with partner institutions in Beijing and back on campus included the possibility of future research collaboration, faculty engagement, and student programming as well as technology's role in uplifting vulnerable communities.

August marked a season of arrivals across Notre Dame’s global network, as students began a semester of research, clinical learning, internships, and life in new cities. Rome welcomed 137 students across six unique programs, while send-off gatherings across Asia marked the next step for international students joining the University of Notre Dame community in South Bend.

In Santiago, a visit with university leaders reinforced the importance of a longstanding institutional partnership, while meetings in South Korea and India prompted discussions about future collaboration. Scholars and practitioners gathered in London to consider democratic governance, and a Notre Dame delegation joined Catholic university leaders in Germany to explore higher education’s responsibilities to the common good.

From Dublin students’ work with a historic library collection to iSURE participants celebrating a summer of research, these exchanges offer a glimpse of what lies ahead for Notre Dame’s global network this academic year.

July’s stories stretched from career-launching workdays to a night beneath the stars. Students wrapped summer placements with organizations in Ireland and Mexico, gaining experience and local perspective that can shape their next steps. In Beijing, a visit with business leaders offered insight into cross-cultural work, while in Santiago, students traded city lights for the wide-open skies of the Elqui Valley.

Scholars gathered in Rome to consider the intersection of religion and global politics, and a conversation in Jerusalem explored philosophy’s place in confronting complex societal issues. New undergraduate research students arrived in South Bend, Notre Dame families and alumni in Mumbai celebrated students preparing for a new chapter, and researchers in Brazil came together around shared scientific questions. Scroll on for a glimpse of the people, ideas, and unexpected moments that made July memorable across Notre Dame's global network.
