Sassds/Ksa Community

Sassds/Ksa Community Although our beloved school has closed, the KSA and SASSDS community continues to stay in touch and remain strong. Our Children. Our Legacy.

At KSA, we provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for learning, where adults and children work together in mutual trust and respect. It is a place where we foster in children self esteem, independence, and a better understanding of themselves and others through teaching skills and Habits of Mind. Teachers work together to craft skill-based, personalized goals for each student reco

gnizing that each child has a unique approach, pace, and style of learning. Traditional teaching styles are complemented by innovative and experiential learning bringing the real world into the classroom. Each student is evaluated in terms of his or her own growth and development in relation to his or her personal goals, as well as according to developmentally appropriate goals and objectives as set forth in the National Common Core Standards. Personalizing education provides each student with the tools to reach and exceed his or her potential.

Very cool:

As a book-freak-in-residence (a.k.a., culture reporter) at the Forward, I spend a lot of time reading. If you’ve been following our books briefing for a while, you know I usually write about new releases each month. But December is a time for reflection — OK, for feeling guilty about the things ...

I am thinking of our Yom Hazikaron ceremonies- each and every year- the kids who spoke, the flowers and stones, the teachers who prepared...and the respect and love we gave to those who gave their lives for Israel.

Our entire community is so saddened by Marion's passing. May her memory be for a blessing.Shabbat shalom.http://m.legacy...

Thinking of and wishing all the dads within our 'community' a happy Father's Day!

I wrote about Yom Hazikaron, but the very favorite day of most children and staff (and many parents) was Yom Haatzmaut. Thinking back on the energy, the falafel, the love and the spirit.

Today I am thinking about the year we were in Israel with the 8th grade for Yom Hazikaron. We were at Ironi Gimmel for a magnificent tribute done by the students including their friends, brothers and sisters who had been lost. Many who had graduated and were in the army came to be a part of it. During the siren, there were tears in the eyes of our students who felt the loss in a way we cannot describe. And, I am thinking about our own ceremony at school where we had a beautiful memorial made by Erez Haas and Uri Radbil, where each of us put a stone or flower. Praying for peace.
