Let us welcome the final artist of the 2026-27 Artist-in-Residence cohort is ✨Maddie Gage✨! Madeline (Maddie) Gage is a ceramic artist from Concord, Massachusetts. After her introduction to clay in high school, she became enthralled with the medium and went on to pursue ceramics after graduation. She received her BFA in Studio Arts with a concentration in ceramics from Syracuse University in 2024. Upon receiving her degree, she has worked as an intern at Truro Center for the Arts in Truro, Massachusetts, as well as for the Umbrella Arts Center in Concord, Massachusetts. She has taught several adult ceramics classes and youth classes in the greater Boston area while pursuing her practice.
Maddie’s work integrates intricate surface designs inspired by headstones and antique embellishments with her pottery to create functional pieces of art to be used in daily life. Through additive and subtractive processes, she builds up surfaces through soft altering and slip trailing, while using trimming, carving, and line weight variation to work subtractively, resulting in complex, layered pieces that make up her signature aesthetic.

Join us in welcoming our next Artist-in-Residence of the 2026-27 cohort: ✨Tatum Ernst✨
Tatum is a ceramic sculptor born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Her early interest in material and form led her to pursue clay more seriously, eventually bringing her to Missoula, Montana, where she received her BFA from the University of Montana. She was previously a studio apprentice for Casey Zablocki and an intern at the Clay Studio of Missoula.
Working at the intersection of sculpture, furniture, and functional ceramics, Tatum’s practice investigates how objects can move between utility and abstraction. She is interested in pushing the boundaries of functionality, reimagining how ceramic forms can operate beyond their expected roles in daily life

Welcome the first of our Artist-in-Residence 26-27 cohort: ✨Beckett Chomyn!✨ Beckett is a ceramic sculptor born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. This spring, they received their Masters in Fine Arts from Kent State University, after completing their BA in Narrative Studies from the University of Southern California and Post Baccalaureate studies in Ceramics at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

Heavily inspired by autotheory, q***r semiotics, and a very persistent baking hobby that they maintain outside of the studio, they utilize clay to make sense of their relationship with their body and positionality in the world. They have exhibited work across the Midwest.

August 2, 10am-2pm with Jon Stein & Madison Carson

Learn how to build bigger pots! Throwing and handbuilding will both be covered in this hands-on workshop. Jon will show you techniques that can be utilized for throwing big pots on the wheel. Resident artist Madison Carson specializes in coil building large vessels. Pick your poison! Participants can throw, coil, or use a combination of the two techniques to create a piece of their own. Firing not included. Firing accommodations TBA.
