Heaven gained 2 angels this past weekend - Miss Jessie and Mr. Wilber.

Mr. Wilber, father of Cindy DeLucia and Donna Leone, and member of St. Joseph Church, passed away peacefully at home. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of both Miss Jessie and Mr. Wilber.

With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Miss Jessie. The students will remember her daily helping out in the main office and the smiles that she would have to greet them. When not helping in the office, she could be found in the choir singing.

St. Joseph (1st c.) was a descendant of Israel's King David and a carpenter by trade. Scripture tells us that he was a just and virtuous man who was betrothed to wed the young Blessed Virgin Mary. Upon finding her pregnant with the Son of God, Joseph was encouraged by an angel to continue with the marriage plans. Because of his complete faithfulness to the will of God, St. Joseph was chosen to become the spouse of the Mother of God and the adoptive father of Jesus Christ. As the divinely-appointed earthly guardian and protector of the Holy Family, St. Joseph provided and cared for the material needs of Mary and the Child Jesus. St. Joseph is the patron saint of many causes, especially fathers, families, married couples, children, pregnant women, workers, craftsmen, against doubt, the dying, and a happy and holy death. He is also the guardian and protector of the Universal Church. His is March 19th for St. Joseph the Husband of Mary,and May 1st for St. Joseph the Worker.

St. Joseph Church continues a 16 year tradition of Fish and Chip Dinners every Friday of Lent. Served in the hall of the school. Come out and have the best fish and chips! Choice of baked or fried. This began as a dream of William "Bill" McGrath the year he passed away. Come support St. Joseph Church!

It is with a heavy heart that post that Mrs. Urbanek, beloved kindergarten teacher of St. Joseph School has passed. Mass will be tomorrow (Tuesday, December 9, 2014) at 11:00 at St. Joseph Church, Norwich.

Congrats to Avery Spear!! Avery was in 7th grade when St. Joes was closed. She wasn't able to graduate from SJS but she is definitely a product of it!

NFA is proud to recognize the following students for being named National Merit Scholarship Commended Students: Regan Harvey, Peter Liang and Avery Spear. Their scores on the PSAT/NMSQT in October of their Upper year placed them in the top 5% of the more than 1.5 million students that entered the competition.

Pedro Cuc-Saenz was recognized as a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar based on his scores on the PSAT/NMSQT.

St. Joseph, guardian of Jesus and chaste husband of Mary, you passed your life in loving fulfillment of duty. You supported the holy family of Nazareth with the work of your hands. Kindly protect those who trustingly come to you. You know their aspirations, their hardships, their hopes. They look to you because they know you will understand and protect them. You too knew trial, labor and weariness. But amid the worries of material life your soul was full of deep peace and sang out in true joy through intimacy with God's Son entrusted to you and with Mary, his tender Mother. Assure those you protect that they do not labor alone. Teach them to find Jesus near them and to watch over him faithfully as you have done.
