The Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego Board of Cooperative Educational Services is a regional educational organization that provides services in partnership with 16 local school districts. DCMO BOCES is one of 37 across New York State working in collaboration with our local school districts to offer programs to students and teachers, as well as administrators, and the community. The DCMO BOCES soci

al media sites are places where we share information, communicate news, and celebrate achievement with the communities we serve – students, parents, component school districts, staff, and the general public. The views expressed on the DCMO BOCES social media accounts do not necessarily represent those of the BOCES itself and should not be solely relied upon for accuracy nor reliability. Because published posts and comments may be considered official records, and due to the time necessary to moderate comments, DCMO BOCES does not allow comments to its published posts. Individuals or groups wishing to share their opinion regarding BOCES concerns, to inquire for additional information, or to provide other feedback to the BOCES may contact the office of the District Superintendent at 607-335-1200 or [email protected]. In addition, the BOCES Board of Education meets monthly and public comments are accepted at those meetings. Please see the BOCES website, www.dcmoboces.com, for more information.

Friday was FFA Day at the Delaware County Fair, and the DCMO BOCES Harrold Campus FFA Chapter participated for the first time! In the morning, FFA members from the 6 chapters in Delaware County were judged on their knowledge in different areas, including animal anatomy, small engine parts, general agriculture, and w**d and tree identification. That was followed by a showmanship competition in the dairy show ring that included classes for novice, junior, senior and “VIP” (school administrators). CTE Director Jennifer Lawrence led a nice dairy cow in the show ring for DCMO BOCES. Thanks to Harrold Campus FFA advisor Emily Anderson for organizing our debut at this year’s fair!

It’s fair week in Delaware County, and the DCMO BOCES Harrold Campus chapter of FFA was represented in the Youth Building. Their display featured the Harrold Campus maple program, and the blue ribbon suggests it scored well with the judges! The Delaware County Fair runs through Saturday this week, with more FFA activities taking place later in the week. Good luck to all our students competing in the many youth contests, shows and competitions!

DCMO BOCES held LINKS 28 on July 29 at Gilbertsville-Mount Upton CSD. LINKS- or regional action planning- allows district stakeholders across the region to work together to share ideas in order to better meet student needs. Districts worked to incorporate the NYSED Portrait of a Graduate initiative and better align their systems to these exciting changes. Ginger Rinaldo, DCMO BOCES Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services, gave an update on the NYSED Portrait of a Graduate, and districts had time to work in teams to develop action plans for continuous improvement and determine their next steps for the upcoming school year. Participating school districts included Afton CSD, Bainbridge-Guilford CSD, Downsville CSD, Franklin CSD, Gilbertsville-Mount Upton CSD, Greene CSD and Unatego CSD.

DCMO BOCES FFA brought a banner display and activities to Chenango County Dairy Day, which was held at the Norwich Fairgrounds on July 18. Additionally, students and their teachers from the Afton Unadilla Valley FFA chapters shared their love of agriculture and the dairy industry by helping the Dairy Day Committee with the Ag Olympics, hay maze and promoting healthy living. The following weekend, Calli Ruff (pictured, from Unatego CSD) helped out at the Cullman Center's Ag Day event in Sidney. It may be summer, but our FFA students are active! There’ll be an FFA presence at upcoming local and NY State fairs: they’ll have displays in the Crop Tent and Exhibition Hall all week at the Chenango County Fair (August 12-16). At the Delaware County Fair (August 17-22), FFA students will showcase displays and projects in the Youth Building and host FFA day contests on Friday. Be sure to stop by and learn more about what FFA members do!
