Chris, my old S4L student (now friend) planned to visit me at school today. He said he’d bring me a coffee.

He surprised me by bringing along another S4Ler, Liam, flowers, and a board game.

I had no idea how uplifting that particular combo would be. They plan to come back in June and teach Accord students some new games.

Grateful.

I actually love when kids roll their eyes at me. #🙄

A huge thank you to North Park Elementary School staff for a truly terrific day.

I’ll be working with the kids and families tomorrow!

It feels good to be back at it. ❤️

Next week, I’m back in action! ✈️

I’m taking my message of neurodivergence and friendship on the road to work with the incredible community at North Park Elementary School in Chicago.

Here is what’s on my heart and the agenda:

•K-5th Graders: We’re talking about why "invisible differences" aren't just normal- they are a HUGE asset to the world.
•Middle Schoolers: A deeper dive into neurodivergence while discovering their own
unique intelligences.
•Educators: Deepening the mindset that Social-Emotional Learning isn’t an "add-on," it’s the foundation that ignites learning for everyone.
•Families: I’m hosting a session on helping kids navigate the "tricky world of friendship" without us becoming overbearing.

I’ve missed my work, and I am happy be getting back to it.

Chicago, see you soon!

Will you follow the new page for my parents’ foundation, Kit & Jerry’s Foundation for Good?

The GOOD stuff is just getting started, and I’d love for you to be a part of it. 💚

Thank you to my Accord School colleague and dear friend Elizabeth Couture for the perfect logo (you can read about it on the page!)

It’s been 6 weeks and 5 days since my parents died.

I’ve been wondering, for probably 3 weeks and 5 days now, when I might start to feel a little “normal” again.

Day after day goes by… nope.

People who I genuinely love reach out, and I can’t find the energy to text, let alone meet up.

It’s a version of me I don’t recognize, but have been trying to make space for.

But then, this week, I got a message from school: “Chris called to check in on you again.”

Chris is my old student from Skills for Living. He is well into young adulthood now. His life is busy with work, driving, traveling, and get togethers with friends from Skills every month.

It occurred to me that Chris is exactly the person I wanted to connect with.

I told him I wasn’t ready for a visit, but would love to chat. Not a problem for Chris- he met me exactly where I was. He told me about his new interests, sent photos of a recent vacation, and caught me up with pictures of the old Skills gang playing table top games.

“Chris I love these pictures,” I texted, “they are making me smile.”

“Have more!” He replied, and made good on the offer.

This morning, he sent me a photo of the two of us, taken more than 10 years ago, and it made me genuinely happy to see.

For the first time in a long time, I saw a little sparkle on the horizon- and while I know there is no going back, and that things can never be the same, life will slowly start to make space for things to be a new kind of ok.

Thank you, Chris.

I’m so grateful to have received hundreds of cards and thousands of messages- not exaggerating- since losing my parents.

People are so good.

Many of the messages say, “there are no words,”’and I agreed with that, until I received this message from one of my 6th grade students today.

Liam found the words:

“If I could only time travel once in my whole entire life I would be there for your parents.”

Those are the words I didn’t know I needed. ❤️⏳

I want to thank every single person who helped my family during the worst week of our lives… from the divers who searched, to the oysterman who kept watch over the beach at night.

This is the saddest “good” news I’ve ever received… and I’m forever grateful they brought my dad back to us.

Kathleen "Kit" Boucher Gerard "Jerry" Boucher Obituary - Orleans, MA 02/19/2026

The people who fell through the ice were my mom and dad.

The irony is, if this had happened to literally anyone else in their Cape Cod community, my mom would be the one glued to the news, leaving flowers at the beach, posting a photo dedication, and coordinating the gatherings around town. My dad would be telling her to take a breath- but he'd be dropping donuts to the first responders when she wasn't looking.

But it happened to my family. And other people are doing all of those things for them. And us.

I am heartbroken, I am changed. I am determined to carry on their work, and keep their light on in our world.

People are asking how they can help. Thank you. Make a donation to their foundation- It's what is bringing me a tiny bit of peace right now. Bring me a coffee in two weeks when the outpouring quiets down, and I'm trying to figure out how to go back to work like a regular person.

Or do something for others... Bake cookies from a mix and add almond extract and chocolate chips. Give them to the neighbor. Stand at a rally for anything you believe in with a goofy homemade sign. Quietly buy a hungry person a meal. Buy a new coat and bring it to the shelter.

A lot of people say a lot of nice things about most people when they die. Sometimes they feel a little generous- because who amongst us is actually that good? I promise you... Jerry and Kit Boucher were.

I will never not be sad.

xo
