It's Election time! Today the children will be voting on thier favorite storybook character and each classroom will decorate their door with the winning storybook character. Who will be the winner? Only the ballots will tell!

In remembrance to September 11th the children will be celebrating Patriot Day. The school will be making a book about America. This will include favorite activities, family pictures, and anything that makes America great. We will display the book in the front lobby, so stop by and check it out!

We have had a blast this summer. The children took a trip to the beach, the Nature Museum, and the movies. They also had special visitors like Farmer Minor and his pig Daisy, Capoeira dancer, Happy Feet soccer, the Maritime Aquarium and many more. The children have had an amazing summer. Now we are looking forward to a fun filled new school year! We hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer!!

This week we our campers are learning about the Wonders of the Natural World. The 4 year olds will be visiting the Nature Discovery Museum to learn all about reptiles. They will also go on a nature walk to learn about natural wonders like streams, rivers, and animals. The campers will also make snow cones and will celebrate Wacky Wednesday.

Tutor Time’s favorite storyteller is back. Farmer Minor and his Pig Daisy will be coming this week to read stories to the children. The children also get to pet his friendly pig Daisy. The school will be celebrating, “I am a Healthy Kid Day.” They will be making edible crafts, and will taste delicious fruits and vegetables.

This week for our summer camp we are exploring the Wonders of the Ancient World. The children will be learning about Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. They will make a Pharaoh’s headdress, build pyramids and learn about how the Egyptians communicated through hieroglyphics. The Pre-K classroom will have a field trip to the beach, while the preschoolers will learn a new game called “Khuzza Lawassi.”

Tutor Time wants to congratulate the 2013 Graduates; they have had an amazing school year. The Pre-K class learned Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and Sign Language as part of the Tutor Time Pre-K Curriculum. The ceremonies will take place on Tuesday June 18, for the 4A graduates and Thursday June 20, for the 4B graduates. Their parents, families, and friends are invited to attend this celebration at 10:30am, followed by lunch. Congratulations to the Class of 2013!!

This week the children will celebrate Flag Day, which is observed on June 14. The children will use their talents to create their American Flag. We will also show our Patriotic Pride by wearing red, white, and blue.

April Showers bring May flowers! All the children at Tutor Time will be planting flowers. They will plant sunflowers, blazing stars, morning glories and wild flowers. They will also draw or paint a picture of their favorite flowers! We are so happy spring is here!

April 10th is “Encourage the Young Writer Day.” Each classroom will have the children write a story accompanied by an illustration. The children will be able to write a book about their favorite Tutor Time activities, their favorite animals, different foods, or make their own interpretation of their favorite stories.

March is National Nutrition Month. The children will be learning fun facts about fruits and vegetables this week. The children will be making a Healthy Fruit and Vegetable Alphabet book in their classrooms on Friday! Be sure to stop by and check it out! It's always a fun week here at Tutor Time Norwalk!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! Today, March 1st we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss birthday by starting off the day with eating Green eggs and reading “Green Eggs and Ham”! Throughout the day we will be doing all sorts of Dr. Seuss activities! Children can also dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters!
